Home sweet home! I got home around 1:15 this afternoon. The flight between Chicago and Manhattan landed early and my luggage came right out. I love small airports! Both flights were a bit early and travel was easy today.
I have laundry washing and am unpacked. Went through the mail and paid a bill. It is nice to get home and take care of “normal” things. The house is in good shape and I don’t have too much to do to it. There is a smell in my pantry I need to track down. Thinking I have some rotten onions or potatoes some where hiding from me.
I am tired! I had trouble falling asleep last night and only slept for about two hours. I might have gotten another 30 minutes of sleep but not much more than that. I dozed on both flights for about 10 minutes. A bath tonight will be heavenly and am trusting it will help me sleep tonight.
I had such a nice respite at Camp Hutch. Hazel’s family treated me like family and embraced me with their love. I feel like I made several new friends on this trip. What a beautiful spot Camp Hutch is. Very relaxing and peaceful for the soul. I loved learning how to kayak and plan on doing it some more. May have to get one for myself. I see why Kathy loves hers so much now.
I worked on a to do list while I was traveling today. I leave Friday morning for CO with Jim and will be gone for almost three weeks. I have a lot to do over the next two days. Jim will be coming Thursday afternoon so we can leave early Friday morning for the drive to Estes Park. I feel a bit behind getting ready for the next trip but with a list made it feels a bit more manageable. I’ll have to make a run into Emporia tomorrow to stock up on critter feed and pick up a few things I want to take with me on this trip. I also need to get my tires rotated. The weather will be both spring like and summer like so will need to take a variety of clothes so I can be comfortable.
I went out to mow this afternoon and got rained out. I love hearing the rain and thunder. I don’t think the rain will last long and may be able to go back out and finish mowing this afternoon or I may wait and do it tomorrow when it is drier. The rain helped cool things down a bit. I’m not used to 90 degree days. It only reached 80 once while I was in Maine and most of the times it was in the high 60’s or low 70’s. Heat and I do not like each other these days. It will take me a bit to adjust to the higher temperatures. Guess it is a good thing I am headed to CO Friday where the highs are in the low 70’s. More my type of temperature.
I sure like looking outside and seeing the wide open spaces. Maine is beautiful in it’s own way but I missed seeing the wide open horizon. I trust the clouds will part by sunset time and I can watch the sun set tonight.
I have two dozen eggs extra if anyone needs some. I haven’t made it down to see my girls since I got home this afternoon. When the rain stops I will go down and see how they are doing. I need to get the coop cleaned out before I leave Friday if I can find the time and motivation to do so. I’ll see what time I get up tomorrow morning and if it is early enough I’ll get down and get that task done before it gets hot.
I chipped a tooth while I was in Maine. The dentist I want to go to is out of town this week. I’ll have to remember to call from CO next week and get an appointment for when I get home. I have a feeling they will have to put a cap on the tooth even though it is just a small corner that broke off. I don’t have dental insurance. I trust the rest of the tooth will stay in place and not become sore while I am gone.
Feeling a bit like not all of me has arrived home with me yet. I’m sure most of that is due to being very tired. I’ll catch up with myself soon!
Grateful for on time and smooth travels today, grateful for the drink the prairie received from the rain this afternoon, and grateful to be home, sweet home!
So glad you made it home safe and sound. Again we had a wonderful time here in Maine with your stay at Camp Hutch and thanks again for picking us up at airport in Kansas City on our trip to Manhattan❤❤
