Today was a quiet day for me. Jim and his son went hiking and I stayed behind at the cabin. My feet are doing OK but they aren’t up to long hikes everyday. I think the guys hiked almost 12 miles today.
I put the dirty laundry in my carry on bag pushed and pulled it to the laundry mat. My carry on bag was easier to take than carrying a sack of laundry. While I was waiting for the machines to finish washing and drying I knitted another wash rag. I am out of wash rag yarn so no more knitting on this trip unless I stop and buy some more some place.
I have four tea towels of the third set I brought with me done. It is relaxing for me to work on them and helps make the time go by quickly when I can’t be outside hiking.
After Jim and Thomas came back Jim and I went into town to get him a new pair of hiking shoes. When we went in the shoe store the sky was bright blue and it is was warm outside. By the time we were done the clouds had rolled in and we could tell it was raining in the distance and the temperature had dropped at least ten degrees. When we got back to the cabin there was hail piled up by the side of the cabin. I swear the weather here changes even faster than Kansas weather does.
We went over to Jim’s brother’s cabin for dinner tonight. We had a pleasant evening visiting with them and enjoying someone else’s cooking. It is a beautiful evening tonight and is to get down to the 50’s overnight. The forecast is for clear skies for the next few days.
Not sure yet what our plan is for tomorrow. Thomas leaves for the airport early tomorrow morning. Jim and I will probably find a three to four mile hike to do. My feet should be good to go tomorrow again. I’m sorry to know that Friday is almost here and we will have to leave. We have enjoyed our time here very much. I hear the temperature back home is to hit 100 or above for the next four days. Doesn’t make me want to rush home by any means.
Grateful for a quiet day at the cabin, grateful my feet seem to only need one day to recover and will tolerate me hiking again on them, and grateful for the cool temperatures of Colorado.
