Two days of tax school down. One day to go. It was a long day today. We didn’t get out until 4:30 this afternoon and we started at 9:00. We only got a 45 minute lunch break. This afternoon a lady from the Oklahoma State Tax Department came to teach us how to do the state returns. She covered lots of topics that we won’t see but were of interest to some of the guys in the group. The one thing I needed to learn which is a rebate of $40 per tax payer under a certain income she didn’t cover! Ugh…….Most of the clients that will come in will qualify for that rebate and in fact that is why they come in. I’ll have to ask someone tomorrow to show me how to do that form.
This morning I was able to track with the instructor most of the morning. He forgets we don’t all know what he was talking about and did a poor job of showing us what he was talking about. It feels like I was in a foreign language class and not understanding most of it. Again he taught us a bunch of things that he said we probably won’t see. Why do they do that?
After class I went to Best Buy. I wanted to get a new computer. I decided to get a desktop one instead of a laptop. I take my iPad with me when I travel and can’t see me taking a laptop in addition to the iPad. The new desktop will allow Jim to load all his photos and negatives using PhotoShop in it and have plenty of storage room. We can share the desktop and it will get much more use than if I got a laptop.
The guy that helped me was very good. He didn’t try to over sell me and offered good advice without pushing it. He looked like he was 12 years old but am guessing he is a college student. I opened a credit card so I could get a 10% discount on the computer. I got an Apple as that is what Jim has used for years. I will have a bit of a learning curve with it but I don’t use a desktop much anyways. I’ll be excited to get home later this week and get it set up and running.
Jim and I took a one mile walk when I finally got home this evening. We stopped and watched the sunset half way through our walk. After sitting all day it felt good to get out and walk.
I ordered wedding invitations last night. Seems like a big step to me somehow. We don’t expect any friends or family from KS to come to the wedding except for my kids and will host a reception in Strong City the weekend after our marriage in Stillwater. We set the date for the wedding for March 22, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Something very synchronized about all the 2’s in the date and time! We will have a reception in Strong City on the 28th in the afternoon.
One of these days soon I need to start shopping for a dress to wear. I don’t want a traditional wedding dress but want something soft – probably knee length. Anyone have any good ideas where to go look? I prefer either short or long sleeves and I don’t want a low neck line. Flowing skirt works best for me. I so rarely wear a dress I don’t know where to go to look for one. HELP!
Tomorrow I have my last day of tax school thank heavens. Not sure I can handle much more. I did my homework and worked two problems this evening that we will be going over tomorrow in class. I still need to continue to work problems in the sample workbook but am finally starting to feel comfortable with them.
I did a problem in class today and didn’t get the results I expected to. I asked one of the experienced guys to check my work. He couldn’t find anything I did wrong so he had me delete the form we were focusing on and re-enter it. This time it showed up properly even though I re-entered it the same way it had been. When the program hiccups like that it doesn’t make it easy for me.
Thursday Jim has a doctor’s appointment and Friday we are driving to Strong City. Saturday I am meeting Nicole In KC at 10:30 to do some of her wedding stuff. Jim and I will return to OK on Tuesday. It will be nice to spend a few days on the prairie.
So far this trip home I don’t have too long of list of things I want to do. I will need to restock critter feed and go to the vet and get the dogs and cats their flea and tic medication. I hope to get to see the grandkids while I am home again too. They have busy schedules so will see if we can make that happen.
I’m tired tonight. I woke up around 3:00 and couldn’t go back to sleep. Finally took another bath around 4:30 and got a bit of a second sleep from 5:15 – 6:30. I’m ready for a goodnight’s sleep. Maybe tonight is the night.
Grateful tax school day two is over, grateful I got to see a beautiful sunset tonight, and grateful tomorrow is the last day of tax school.

Hi Kay! I was on Facebook and saw your posts. I’m happy for you and Jim. In case, you still need a dress, there is a place in Lenexa ks called Sincerely Susan’s. It is full of mother of bride or groom dresses. Lots of lovely dresses to choose from. It is by appointment (913) 730-8840 and they have a website. Just in case, you are interested. Take best of care!😊Diane
