Went in to do taxes at 12:15. We weren’t supposed to start until 12:30 but most of the other volunteers were already there and helping clients. I will go in at noon after this.
I did eight returns today. All were easy and simple ones. I did have a Health Savings Account return – grateful I got my certification for that part. I love meeting the clients. They are so very grateful for the service provided. I’m also humbled to meet so many that live on so little.
We were to work until 4:30 but we didn’t have any clients come in after 3:30 so I left early at 4:00. The other volunteers are fun to visit with but I decided not to stay for 30 minutes to waste time.
Several of the volunteers that had been there yesterday said they were wiped out last night too. Glad it wasn’t just me. Half days are much easier.
I stopped at the grocery store on the way home. I had a few things on my list to get.
I fixed a crock pot of chili this morning before I left to do taxes. The house smelled really good when I got home and it was nice to have dinner ready tonight without having to fix anything. The chili turned out good and we have enough for another meal.
The weather took a wicked turn today. The high was only 37. We got a few sprinkles but no snow. Tomorrow the high will be 33 and snow is in the forecast. Glad I get to stay home tomorrow.
I plan on painting the rest of the outside of the cabinets tomorrow. I have been too tired the last two nights to attempt to paint. Thursday we meet with the preacher again and Friday we have to take my car to Oklahoma City for service.
The rest of the invitations came in but I forgot to order the envelopes for them. Rats! I placed an order for them tonight and ordered 10 more reception invitations too. I had thought of a few more people to invite and was out of invitations. They won’t be here for ten days so I will get them out a bit late but better late than never!
I have been riding through a wonderful valley lately. I haven’t fallen into the muck pond for a bit. The ride has been fairly smooth and easy. I need to take more time to appreciate when I am in these valleys. This one has been a long ride and I am grateful.
Grateful for the opportunity to be in service to others by doing taxes, grateful for chili on a cold winter’s night, and grateful for the valley of life I find myself in right now.
