72 degrees on the prairie today. Wow. What a difference a week makes. It has been a touch windy but still needed to take my sweater off while cleaning out the chicken coop. Bring on spring. The girls are enjoying rearranging their fresh linens this afternoon. The eggs will be cleaner for a bit and the smell is fresher. Good day in the chicken coop today.
Yesterday late morning I didn’t have one egg in the house. Jim took all the cartons of eggs to Stillwater to give to friends. Today I have two dozen in the refrigerator and 8 more on the counter. Easy come – easy go around here with eggs.
I took a nap this afternoon while Jim took a hike. I didn’t sleep well last night and woke up feeling tired this morning. I feel much better now that I took a nap. Sure wish I could sleep as well at night as I do in the afternoons.
We are grilling steaks for dinner tonight. Need to celebrate this beautiful day by turning the grill on. I put potatoes in the oven to go with the steak so dinner will be easy as can be tonight.
It is only gong to be 48 for the high tomorrow. Even that will feel good after the bitter cold we had last week. We have a chance for some rain later in the week. Feeling more and more like spring has sprung around here.
I only have two more rows to knit and then I can cast off the blanket I am making and weave the ends in and it will be done. I will need to order more yarn if I decide to make another one. I like having an ongoing project – especially when I don’t have a deadline to get it done.
Since I took a nap I’ll probably get on the hot line tonight later. I looked last night and they had 89 people waiting to chat but I was too tired to help out. We are so short of volunteers late at night that it is taking up to an hour for people to get to chat with someone. By the time we get to them many have given up. They have a way of filtering the calls to ensure the high risk callers jump to the front of the line but sometimes it can miss a high risk texter.
Tomorrow we have to go to Emporia. I need to have a blood draw done and we need to restock chicken feed and pick up a few groceries. Thursday morning we get our second vaccine and have left the rest of the weekend open in case we need to have some recovery time.
Monday we hope to start the cleaning and painting on our new investment property. We need to go over later today and pick out a roof color and let the roofing company know what we want so they can get the material ordered. I normally just tell them to use whatever but Jim wants to choose it.
I am more and more encourage with the freedom the vaccine will bring us. I keep reading reports of how effective they are and what that will release us to do. What a relief it will be to be as fully protected as they provide. I so look forward to having friends over again that have also been vaccinated.
I got the Costco shopping trip supplies put away and things back in order in the house. I sure didn’t get done what I had planned to do yesterday but Jim got safely home and that was more important. Got a bunch of laundry done today and a bit of cleaning done. Things feel more manageable around here again.
Sophia only has four pills left to take. She has healed nicely and hasn’t run off once. Wondering if it will be safe to not put her electronic collar back on her. I’m grateful to the Vet and the great job he did cleaning up her neck.
Need to go sit outside and enjoy this beautiful day. I have about an hour before I need to fix dinner.
Grateful to be able to go outside without a sweater or coat on today – first time this year, grateful the girls have fresh linens, and grateful we had steaks in the freezer to eat for dinner tonight.
Please show us the blanket you knitted.
