This has been a long day. I left home this morning before 8:00 and got back around 6:00. Too long for this introvert to be away from home!

I went to Olpe and picked up the remaining 3/4 of the beef. They were efficient and got me loaded up in little time. Drove to Nicole’s house from Olpe.

I got to Nicole’s house around 10:30. We unloaded all the beef and counted and sorted it. Nicole had found buyers for part of it for me. Got it put away in a big cooler and Nicole’s freezer. We had a bit of time to sit and visit before I had to leave for my KU appointment.

Any day I get to spend some quality time with one of my kids is a good day.

Went to my appointment for the KU research program I am participating in. I was one minute late getting there but they didn’t seem concerned. I first met with a coordinator who asked me some basic questions about the program. We had to kill about 10 minutes before the testing lady was back from lunch and ready for me.

She then turned me over to the testing lady. I had over two hours of mental cognitive testing. Some of them I felt OK with and some of them I don’t think I did so well. Good thing it really doesn’t matter how well I did. When a problem or test was hard for me, I guessed and moved on. It wasn’t worth getting stressed over. I wished I could see my results and how it compared to the test I did six months ago but they don’t share the results.

The lady that did my testing was fun to visit with. She was born in Venezuela and came to the states when she was 10. She has done a fair bit of traveling the world so we shared travel stories. She had also worked at McDonald’s for a time so we talked about that too.

After the testing was complete I went to Costco and found a cart full of stuff I didn’t know I needed. Stopped at Chipotle for lunch/dinner and then drove home. Traffic was moving but heavy until I got south of Gardner and then it was normal from there to home. So grateful I don’t have to drive in that traffic daily.

I got the car unloaded and the freezer stuff put away. Haven’t unpacked and put away the rest of the stuff. It may wait till morning as I am wiped out. Wish I had a stay at home day tomorrow but I have to go to Emporia at 11:30 for exercise. I need to stop afterwards and pick up a few groceries and then I can come home and chill.

I got a company to return my call today and they are coming next Monday to give me a bid for the foundation work that needs done. Have no idea how much that might cost. The slope on the floor is very noticeable and it really needs to be fixed. I will have them inspect the rest of the foundation too and see if there are any other soft spots that need attention. This house will be 125 years old next year and it is probably overdue for some repairs.

Didn’t hear from my realtor today so not sure if the closing is still happening Friday or not. Sure seems like we are cutting it close but maybe that is the normal these days. It will be a relief to get that property sold.

Need to walk down to city hall and pay my water bill tomorrow. Kathy works tomorrow so I will need to walk the dogs in the morning and can take one of them with me to pay the bill. I love that I can walk to wherever I need to go to take care of business in this small town.

Feeling a bit scattered and like part of me hasn’t gotten home yet. Maybe I left part of my brain at the testing site! Ha! I was grateful I was able to do the testing and not get attached to the outcome and worry about how well or how poorly I did. I’m sure after a good night’s sleep I will feel complete in the morning.

Grateful for a safe trip to and from KC today, grateful the beef is all distributed and where it needs to be, and grateful that the testing is complete for another six months.
