Spent two hours this morning and three hours this afternoon at the rental house. This morning I got the rest of the kitchen cabinets lined and the very tops of them, relatively clean. I had to use a putty knife to scrap the grease build up. It was gross! I put liner paper on top of them and used thumb tacks to hold it in place as it was too greasy for it to stick.

This afternoon I painted the lower 2/3 of the back room. I will have to use the ladder to do the top 1/3 tomorrow and then I will need to paint the floor. I also did some more touch up painting. The handyman had to strip some paint off the doors to get them to close properly so I had to repaint them.

Jim worked on fixing the front porch to get it ready to paint. The handyman fixed the back room for me so it was ready to paint. He also came up with a quick fix to the landing outside the back door.

It finally felt like we made lots of progress today. The little things inside got done and the back room is looking much better. Tomorrow after I get the painting done I will clean each room inside and the house should be ready to be lived in. The renter is bringing things starting Saturday. We will still have painting to do to the house as well as some more yard work but the renter understands we will need to continue to work on the outside. We shouldn’t have to go inside.

I put two new light bulbs in a light fixture in the bedroom. Turns out the lights are on a dimmer switch and the light bulbs didn’t work. I had to go get some light bulbs that would work. Luckily the Dollar General had some.

I got a pad lock today so we can use the metal shed as the place to store ladders, paint, tools, etc. I brought home some things that had been in the house today and will move the rest of the tools that were in the kitchen to the metal shed tomorrow.

I ran a load of cleaning rags today in the washing machine just to make sure it works. They were drying when I left today. So far both washing machine and dryer seem to work.

I came home for lunch and took a nap before I went back in to work some more. We had quite a storm blow through this morning and it was hard to sleep during the storm. The river is rising again.

I fixed fish for dinner. Jim gets oven baked beer battered fish and I have salmon. Makes an easy dinner. I laid out chicken tenderloins for tomorrow – not sure how I will fix them.

Today is one of my son-in-laws birthday. Happy birthday to Geoff. I’m so glad he joined our family last year. Wishing him the best for this trip around the sun.

The power company came this morning as promised and hooked up the power line to the house. Finally able to cross that project off my pending list. It took them two months to do that little job for us.

We need to find an hour and drive over to the cemetery in Florence and Hillsboro sometime the next couple of days. We will probably go on Sunday unless we can get away Saturday. I got some flowers last time I was in Walmart.

Monday we have a family reunion in Cottonwood Falls at 12:30. This reunion is my mother’s mother’s family. It is always fun to see cousins I don’t get to see very often.

Tuesday I have to go to Topeka for an ultrasound of my neck. It is my annual cancer follow up check. I will stop and get some blood drawn while I am in Topeka so the results are back before my annual visit with the Endocrinologist later in June.

Grateful for my handyman and Jim’s help today, grateful I can see progress today, and grateful for my son-in-law Geoff.
