So far the new router is working. Neither of us have had to reconnect our computers to the internet. Before the new router we were having to do it four or five times a day. Jm made it through his class without getting kicked off which was a huge relief. Still having problems with the printer printing on demand but am thinking that is due to an issue either in the printer settings or in our computer settings. I will continue to look for a wiz kid to come to the house and check the settings and see if we can get that resolved. I had a list of three people that do in-home computer calls but when I called them none of them were still in business. Thinking the COVID thing probably drove them out of business. We can always plug the printer into our computer if all else fails.
I didn’t sleep well again last night. I took some Advil Cold and Sinus stuff and am now thinking that is what is causing me not to be able to sleep. I won’t take it again. I seem to need to double test my theories to see if they are right.
Today is the last day of my ear drops. My ears are better – I didn’t have any ear pain at all today. First day in several weeks for that so progress is being made. I am to continue using the Flonase for another week and I was to take the decongestant for another week too but I will have to see if the other kind causes me to not be able to sleep too. Sleep feels more important than the reward from the decongestant.
I took a long nap this afternoon. I didn’t get a nap yesterday and I have a shift on the hot line tonight. I made it through my shift last night but I was wiped out when I was done. I only took four calls and then signed off. None of them were high risks texters but all needed a listening ear and someone to assure them they would be OK. One was a bit tougher with a hard situation with few options. They promised to text back in if things became worse and they become serious about suicide.
Jim taught his class this afternoon. It seemed to go well. I only had to help him out once. I took my nap after his class so didn’t make it into town to paint. Sure hoping I will get some painting done tomorrow and this weekend.
I fixed hamburger soup when I got up this morning so dinner was ready after my nap. That was easy. I laid out some steaks that we will grill for our anniversary dinner tomorrow night. I will throw some potatoes in the oven and then grill the steaks and dinner will be easy tomorrow night too.
Other than painting we have no plans this weekend. It is to be a nice weekend so hoping Jim can get some work done outside at the new property. The dumpster is going away next week and we need to get some more work done while we still have it. I will paint inside and try to get the kitchen done. I want to do one wall in a bedroom to see if the new paint I got will work. Am thinking I want to get a darker color for the living room and dining room.
I haven’t heard from the electrician yet so don’t have a date when he will come clean up the breaker box and do the other odd jobs he needs to do. Everything happens in it’s own time.
When we were eating dinner tonight the doorbell rang. It was a young couple from Topeka looking for a bed and breakfast. I gave them the Chase County Chamber website address so they could look up what is available in the area.
Maybe this coming week will be a good week to get this house cleaned and get lots of work done on the house in town. We are going to Stillwater one day next week to bring up Jim’s other car. We will fill my car too so he will get two loads of more stuff brought to KS. Wonder how many more car loads of stuff he has to bring? I’m not sure I want to know the answer to that question. Other than the trip to Stillwater we don’t have anything else special planned for the week.
Ellexia and her daddy are driving to KY to visit family next week. Ellexia told me she needs some cookies to take along in the car with her so I will need to get some baked for her and delivered to Emporia either tomorrow or Saturday. A girl needs her cookies!
We didn’t get the winter weather that was forecast for last night. We got a bit of sleet and ice early evening but not the two inches of snow. It was actually nice outside today if you could find a spot out of the wind. The wind was in a hurry all day with gusts up to 30 MPH.
The girls gave us 25 eggs today. My refrigerator is getting full of eggs again. I may take some to a friend in Matfield Green tomorrow just to get rid of some.
We are still checking our bank accounts daily waiting for our stimulus money to come. Not sure if we will each get a check or if they will combine them this time since we have filed our 2020 income taxes already. I have had to wait for a paper check the last couple of times. Jim always got his right away in a direct deposit. I guess there is no hurry for the money to come in as it is going into a saving account to sit until it is time to pay the state our estimated tax payment quarterly this year. We don’t need it until July so have time to wait for it.
Grateful the new router is working and Jim didn’t get kicked off the internet during his class, grateful for no ear pain today, and grateful for a long afternoon nap.
