Got up early so we could get chores done and head to town. We arrived a few minutes before the vaccine clinic was open. Got our second COVID vaccines. The process was smooth and easy. They said they were giving 700 vaccines today. Both of us have sore arms this afternoon and I have a mild headache but so far other than that feeling good. It feels like we got our Get Out of Jail Free Card today – well in 30 days we will be freer to roam. It will be so nice to have other vaccinated friends over for dinner starting in a month or so.

Came home via Cottonwood Falls so we could dump the recycling. We managed to fill the back of my car with totes of recycling material.

Came home, fixed breakfast and I went back to bed. I didn’t sleep much last night and needed more sleep. I sure wish I could sleep as well at night as I do during the day.

My accountant called and woke me up. We will get a bit more federal back then we owe the states so came out almost even. I call that a win. He is going to finish them up and mail them to me next week. It is good to have that task done. I was worried about what the results might be as this was the first year Jim and I filed jointly.

Our new investment property will be empty tomorrow. If we are feeling good we will run by and take a good look at it. Have a feeling we will have some hauling off of things to do. We will get to it next week and get it cleaned up and start painting. It will be fun to have a big project to work on.

I handled five calls last night on theft line – I think they were all suicidal thoughts. One of them was heartbreaking. Sometimes we just don’t have enough to offer them as solutions. I have to remind myself my task is to help them get safely through the night and not to offer long-term solutions. Depression is a beast to live with and is a heavy burden on its victims.

I booked off my shift for tonight in case I don’t feel well but will get on and help out if I’m doing OK. They are so busy late at night I always feel a bit guilty when I sign off. Last night there were 89 people waiting to chat with someone. They keep getting pushed down the line when a high risk texter comes on. Jim keeps telling me I can’t help them all.

The girls gave me 14 eggs this morning and Jim just brought up 11 more. I need to find more regular egg customers. I deliver on Monday’s. Eggs are $3 a dozen or two dozen for $5. Hit me up if you want fresh eggs.

I got a ham at the grocery store yesterday that I am going to fix for dinner tonight. Ham is Jim’s favorite meat. I like it although I could not eat it again and be OK. It is easy to fix. I’ll throw a baked potato for Jim and a baked sweet potato for me in the oven along with the ham and dinner will be easy. We like using the ham leftovers in casseroles and soups.

No plans but recovery for the weekend. Jim is out working on the chicken coop and hauling gravel to fill the holes the girls like to dig around the fence. We have some coop yard improvements we need to make this spring. Good thing he is handy and likes doing that kinda thing.

Prairie fire season has begun. Tallgrass Prairie Preserve has been burning today. We can see the smoke to the west of our house. I love driving at night during burning season and seeing the prairie burn at night. Jim has never witness a prairie burn up close so am hoping we will be home when they burn my property this year. Spring is coming around the corner.

Grateful it was our turn to get our second vaccine, grateful for easy to fix dinners, and grateful for lots of empty space this weekend.
