We went to town to pick up Sophia around 5:30 last night. She looked good and has acted fine since she has been home. She had two deep puncture wounds from the spikes on the containment collar and a staph infection around the site. The Vet got her cleaned up and put her on antibiotics for seven days. I wrap her two pills up in a piece of ham and she eats them easily. She doesn’t have to go back in unless the wounds don’t heal. Roxy was glad to see Sophia when she got home.
We took Ellexia home after we picked up Sophia. We had such a good time with her. I’m glad she came out for the day.
Got notified last night via email that our second vaccine shot has been delayed until next Thursday. The shipment of vaccines are slowed down due to the winter weather and loss of electricity throughout the Midwest. What is one more week – right? Disappointing but I understand it is something they couldn’t control.
I took seven calls on the hotline last night. One was a suicide call that I had to notify my supervisor about as the caller was high risk. The caller seemed to have calmed down by the end of it. The others were a random assortment of issues. I only handled one call at a time last night. Some nights I can do two at a time but didn’t feel up to that last night. We were busy and they had over 100 people waiting to chat when I logged off. I put in three hours and was wiped out and couldn’t take another call. I have another shift tonight.
After I gathered eggs this morning I went to Emporia and got our groceries for the week. Since we aren’t going to town for our vaccine tomorrow I decided to make a trip today and get it done. I didn’t think I needed much but managed to spend over $100. Not sure what I bought that added up that high but it seems to happen almost every time I go.
I noticed the Walmart in Emporia is now doing COVID vaccines. You have to make an appointment in advance on-line. When I got home I looked it up and all their appointments for this week are already taken. Not sure when they release more dates to book but if you are looking for a vaccine you might check their website regularly and see if you can get a booking.
We mailed our reservations for a cabin at the Y Camp this summer. Jim took the letter to the post office in Cottonwood Falls this afternoon. It is due to the Y Camp at the end of February. He has been having trouble getting payments to Stillwater on time lately as the mail service is so slow these days. Trusting it will get there on time.
The pharmacy that is handling my new cholesterol medication called today and gave me instructions on how to use the medication. Not sure I followed what he said but will figure it out when it gets here. The new insurance company was much quicker to approve it than the old one was. They are shipping it late next week. Hoping this new one won’t give me welts on my thighs at the injection site.
The sun has been out most of the day. It reached the mid 20’s today but felt much warmer. The snow seems to be melting in places already. Looking forward to next week and temperatures back up in the mid 50’s and above. I am done with winter cold.
I laid down to take a nap this afternoon and had just fallen asleep when my phone rang. I usually can answer it on my watch but for some reason the call didn’t come through my watch. By the time I got up and found my phone the call was gone. I think someone was calling to tell me my vaccine appointment had been changed but they didn’t leave a message. I couldn’t get back to sleep and now I am grumpy and have a headache. And this too shall pass……
We are having fish for dinner tonight. That will make for an easy dinner as I will put Jim’s in the oven along with some tator tots for him and some sweet potato fries for me. I will grill myself a piece of salmon.
Feeling out of sorts this afternoon. Think I am too tired to sleep right now. After I get done writing I will get up and move around and see if I can move this heavy, icky feeling out of my body. Sometimes that helps. I wouldn’t recommend calling and talking to me right now or I might bite your head off. I was fine earlier today and not sure why I am so grumpy now.
Tony, Jim’s indoor cat got into my yarn again and messed up another skein of yarn. Jim will have a project to do to straighten it out for me. Tony is living on thin ice right now. He might join my cats and become an outside cat if he doesn’t start behaving.
As soon as the weather warms up we need to clean out the chicken coop again. The girls were stuck inside 24/7 for a bit and the coop is getting really stinky. We let them out yesterday and again today. They have spent most of the day outside today – I don’t blame them. It is to be in the mid 50’s by Tuesday so hoping we can get it cleaned out then.
Grateful Sophia is home and doing well, grateful for the time we had with Ellexia yesterday, and grateful the sun is shining today.
