Busy day around here today. Kathy and I hit the road at 10:15 to go to Wichita so Kathy could turn her leased vehicle in and I could go to Subaru school.
I stopped at Costco as I got to Wichita early and had time to take care of that before my noon appointment. I got several cases of water and two other things. The line to check out was long but went fairly quickly.
By the time I got to the Subaru dealership Kathy was almost done turning her car in. They made it very easy for her and didn’t even inspect the car before she left.
The lady that taught me about my new car was good. She listened well and didn’t over explain things. I am now able to use Maps on my iPhone and have it show up on the car. The new car has a GPS but I find it hard to use. She showed me how to adjust the steering wheel and what some buttons and gadgets were for.
The only thing that didn’t get resolved was how to turn on the beep when the cruise control automatically slows me down. What she showed me didn’t work. I will have to get the manual out and see if I can figure that out myself. I got a $25 gift card to Quick Trip for coming in today. Wonder where the nearest Quick Trip is?
We went to Chipotle for lunch after we were done at the dealership. Chipotle is one of my favorite places to eat and I rarely miss a chance to stop and eat there when I am in the neighborhood.
When we got home I cleaned out my old Forester and turned it over to Kathy. Found a bunch of keys in it that I have no idea where they go. Found some other things I had forgotten were in the car. It will be fun to start driving my new car now.
Next time I go to Emporia I will need to stop at the car wash and add the new car to my bill. The new car is seriously in need of a wash as it has been sitting out and what rain we have gotten has made it wet enough that the dust has settled in on the car.
Got the water bill for the month of August. It was about $50 higher than normal due to the watering of the new grass seed. The seed is sprouting and growing so it was worth it. One time at the country house grass seed was planted and lots of water put on it but nothing happened. At least this time there is something to show what the water was used for. How long do you have to continue to water every day once the grass is up and is two inches long?
We have a good chance for some rain either this evening or in the morning. This heat wave is to break overnight and temperatures will only be in the upper 70’s to lower 80’s for the rest of the week. That sounds like heaven. Maybe this is the last heat wave of the summer. September can be cruel and get hot again so we shall see what happens.
Tomorrow I have to go to Emporia for exercise and to go to the Chiropractor. I need to remember to stop by the car wash and get the new car on the program. I don’t think I have any other errands to take care of as I bought groceries Monday when I was in town.
No plans for the holiday weekend. Not sure if I will have exercise on Monday or not. Last holiday we went ahead and met. Makes no real difference to me. Everyday is a holiday when I am retired.
Sitting in a good head space today. The fog and darkness I had been in for the last week or so seems to have lifted today. Grateful for that! I have learned that when it comes, the best thing I can do is attempt to befriend it and allow it to be and not rush it to leave. I don’t enjoy that process but if I can soften my resistance to it and allow it to be, it goes away much quicker than if I resist it.
Grateful for a safe trip to and from Wichita, grateful to have learned more about my new car, and grateful for the cool down that is to happen overnight.
