It has been a lazy day on the prairie. I took a nap this afternoon and worked on the puzzle most of the day. Didn’t get much done except for fixing dinner. I fixed a pot roast so that didn’t take much time. Had some friends over for dinner. It was nice to have conversation with others.
Jim has been after me to have friends over more often. Once I know when he is coming home next weekend I will find some other friends to have over. He wants to get to know my friends better. Covid has kinda put a damper on being with friends. As long as we know they take precautions and are vaccinated we feel comfortable having others over now.
The new beef is good. This was the first roast I had fixed using the new beef. It was tender and flavorful, just like it should be. I have eaten some of the hamburger and we have had one package of steaks and all is good. It is nice to have a freezer full of good beef.
No plans for tomorrow other than cleaning out the chicken coop and doing my weekly egg delivery. Jim is leaving Tuesday morning to go back to Stillwater so I will do more cleaning then. I need to go to Emporia Tuesday for a blood draw and then I am going to Topeka Thursday for a doctor’s appointment. I will pick up what groceries I need when I am in town on one or the other of those days.
It only reached 80 today. I had put jeans on and a long sleeve shirt this morning. I wore a sweater most of the day. I don’t do cold very well these days. We still have our air on inside and we keep it set at 78 but that is too cold for me unless I am up and moving around. I dread the thought of winter coming on soon.
I sure have been noticing it is getting dark earlier and earlier. Fall Equinox will be here soon. I miss the late evening light.
Grateful for friends to break bread with, grateful for beef fresh from the ranch, and grateful for empty space days.
