Happy birthday to my youngest daughter Nicole. She turned 38 today. I’m so glad she choose me to be her mother. I’m so proud of the woman she has become.

I got up this morning and checked the weather forecast. I went out and mowed in an attempt to beat the rain that was coming in. I took a break about half way through to eat breakfast and to let my hands warm up. Went back out after I ate and finished the yard. It was nice to see it all mowed on the same day.

Jim and I did a cemetery tour today. We went to Florence, Hillsboro and Cottonwood Falls cemeteries. It was a beautiful drive. It rained on the way to Florence but other than that it was dry when we were putting flowers out.

Fixed ham and eggs with hash browns for dinner tonight. Simple and easy – the only way I know how to cook.

I fixed a banana pudding to take to the family reunion tomorrow. I also boiled 3 dozen eggs to make into deviled eggs tomorrow morning. I have them peeled and ready. I am also fixing a meat loaf and some roasted veggies. That way I will have food there that I can eat safely without cheating.

I didn’t take a nap today and am tired this evening. Trying to break my nap habit again. May not make it up until 10:00 tonight but we shall see. The sun is setting so much later these days that it is later than I think it is most evenings.

I am delivering six dozen eggs tomorrow to my regular egg customers and am going to take some to the reunion to give to family. I need to clean out my stash of eggs again.

I have had the heater under my desk running this evening. It is too cold out for my liking. I am eager for summer temperatures to arrive and this cold, wet weather to go away. I’m sure in another four weeks or so we will be wishing for rain again but for now I am getting tired of it.

It has been nice to have a break from painting on the rental house. We will have tomorrow off too and then hope to get back at it on Tuesday. We will see what the weather does. Maybe I will get a fourth day off as there is a 60% chance of rain on Tuesday. I have to go to Topeka Tuesday morning so maybe it will rain when I am doing that and be clear by the time I get home early afternoon.

The guest that is coming in later this week let me know today she is arriving early Thursday afternoon and staying until Sunday morning That gives me a couple more days to get the house cleaned. Some of Jim’s books got wet when our basement flooded a couple weeks ago and we need to move them to the barn as they are smelling like mold or mildew. May find some other things that got wet too.

I haven’t been as achy as I was yesterday today. That is a good thing. I think I was exhausted from all the work at the rental. I pushed myself pretty hard last week. It has been nice to have two quiet days to recover.

Grateful for the family members we remembered and visited today, grateful the mowing is done, and grateful for Nicole.
