Not sure this day went as planned but it was a nice day. It was a beautiful spring day on the prairie. Lots of prairie fires all around us today. When we went for our walk after dinner we watched a fire to the northeast of us. I love watching the line of fire snake across the prairie.
I got the downstairs cleaned up this morning. The bed has fresh linens and all the towels have been washed so they are nice and fresh. I still need to clean the coffee room and then we will be ready for our guest to arrive tomorrow early evening.
I was going to go paint and then I got a text from Jason. He had something to bring to me and told me he was coming out. He waited for Cody to finish his nap and didn’t make it out for a couple of hours. We had a nice visit when they got here. Cody enjoyed gathering eggs and playing on the back deck with a bucket of wood pieces Jim found for him to play with. Jim is so tickled that Cody calls us Grandma and Grandpa.
After they left I took a nap and when I got up it was time to fix dinner. I had put some scalloped potatoes and ham in the oven for Jim before I laid down and I also baked myself a sweet potato. I had some left over chicken with the baked sweet potato and fixed Jim the rest of the asparagus.
This morning I made a batch of ham salad for Jim to snack on. Since I have plenty of eggs I boiled a few extra and made deviled eggs. We both enjoyed eating on them today – they are already gone. I’ll have to make some more soon. Heavens knows I have enough eggs to use up. I sent two dozen home with Jason. I tried to give him four dozen but he said he didn’t have room in his refrigerator.
Tomorrow I will deliver three dozen eggs to my regular customers. I will still have 10 more dozen in the refrigerator after that and I will get 2 more dozen tomorrow from the girls. I have got to find some more egg customers.
There are high wind advisories up for tomorrow. We are to have winds of 30 MPH with gusts up to 50 MPH. The chicken coop needs cleaned out but thinking tomorrow might not be the day to do that.
When I get up and get going tomorrow I am going in to town to paint. I didn’t make it in today. I sure would like to get the first coat on all the cupboards in the kitchen. Not sure I can get it all done tomorrow but I am going to try.
We just looked out the front door and saw the big beautiful super moon and the last of the prairie fire that is burning about a mile away. I love watching the fires at night. It is magical with the full moon above it tonight.
We just put the turkey I am going to cook for our Easter Thanksgiving feast next Sunday in the refrigerator downstairs to thaw. I am getting so excited to have the kids over for a meal. Maybe we are getting back to normal – what ever that means these days.
When we got back from our walk we found Sophia in the back pasture. I had to put her collar back on her. I had just taken Roxy’s collar off of her today thinking they would stay in the yard. Darn it anyways. Sophia knew she was in trouble when I yelled at her. She avoided us for a while afterwards but we tracked her down and put her collar on her. I trust she will not have another accident with the collar. The pastures will soon be filled with cattle and the temptation to herd them would be too great for her to go without her collar that keeps her in the yard.
Grateful for the beauty of the prairie fires around us, grateful for the beauty of the full super moon tonight, and grateful to have gotten to spend some time with Jason and Cody today.
