What a wonderful “normal” evening we had. Some dear friends invited us over for dinner. Great good, great conversation, a fire in the fireplace, and a sense of returning to a rich and full life. Couldn’t ask for anything else.
I only slept about two hours last night. Not sure what was going on but I could not fall asleep. I am wondering if I had a Benadryl bounce from the sleepiness it caused to being wired. I am taking some over the counter decongestants that the nurse recommended for my ears so they may be wiring me. I tried taking a nap this afternoon and maybe got another hour of sleep. I am really tired right now so may take a bath when I get done blogging and go to bed early. At this point I will sleep whenever sleep can find me.
I didn’t make it in to paint today as I was too tired. I was afraid I would be too sloppy if I tried. Trusting tomorrow I will make it in to paint. Jim wants to work on tearing down the old garage tomorrow afternoon so I may go in to paint in the morning and then help him in the afternoon.
I did run into Strong City around noon. The Catholic Church had a corned beef and cabbage dinner today. I got two orders to go. It will be our dinner tomorrow night. I was surprised that no one inside the building were wearing masks – not even the guys that brought the food to the car. People were hugging and talking and acting like the whole virus thing is over. Trusting no one that was there had the virus and that the event doesn’t become a super spreader event. I was glad they offered a drive-up option and I didn’t have to go inside.
My ears are a bit better today. The drops went through the ears today and didn’t plug them up like they did yesterday. I didn’t have as much pain in the ears today either. Hoping by tomorrow the pain will all be gone, the ringing in the ears will stop and I will have my energy level back to normal for me.
I need to make my egg deliveries tomorrow around noon. I have a new customer to deliver to so will get rid of four dozen eggs tomorrow. I got rid of one dozen today so will only have two left in the refrigerator although I will add another dozen tomorrow after I gather eggs. I like when the eggs go out as fast as they come in. Gives me more refrigerator space.
Wednesday I have volunteered to help prepare and pass out Commodities that come in to Cottonwood Falls and are given to low income people in the area. That will help me meet some more people in the area and be of service.
Since we weren’t home tonight I didn’t notice the time change thing tonight. I like extra daylight in the mornings and will miss that for a bit. I like eating earlier rather than late and wish they would leave the whole time change thing alone.
We got more rain today which is a wonderful blessing. We have been in drought conditions for a while and we are appreciating every drop of rain that has fallen. The ponds needed to get filled up for the start of pasture season on the prairie.
The girls gave us 27 eggs today, including a fairy egg. I hadn’t gotten a fairy egg lately and was just thinking about them yesterday. I wonder if that is the only type of egg that hen lays.
It was a nice reminder tonight of what returning to normal activities might look and feel like. Small gatherings with friends and family is what I have missed the most through this past year of isolation. I haven’t missed shopping or eating out. Still don’t have the urge to travel yet but I am wanting to invite friends over now. We will start with small groups and go from there.
Jim and I have talked about finally holding our wedding reception but not sure how to know who has been vaccinated and who hasn’t been yet. I sure don’t want to host a super spreader event. We will probably wait a bit longer to start planning one.
Grateful for dinner out with friends, grateful my ears are getting better, and grateful for the rain the prairie has received the last few days.
