Jim just left to go to the Denver airport to pick up his two sons. They both arrive around midnight but are coming from different directions – one from the east coast and one from the west coast. Jim is excited both are coming for a few days.
We had another quiet, restful day today. Both of us took a nap this afternoon. I finally feel rested and acclimated to the higher altitude. When we took our walk this evening I wasn’t short of breath and my legs didn’t feel like mush. We walked for about an hour around the grounds of the Y Camp.
This afternoon a doe and her fawn entertained us while we sat on the front deck of our cabin. The fawn was spotted and had long legs. She looked like she was doing more hopping than walking. We saw several more deer while we were on our walk. Haven’t seen any elk yet this time.
I have been knitting and doing embroidery work on a set of tea towels. I have two wash rags knitted and three tea towels done. It gives my hands something to do while I sit and look at the mountains. It is so beautiful here. The cabin feels very private although there are cabins to either side and around us.
It rained for a bit this afternoon. We got a blanket and sat out on the deck and watched it rain. I love the smell of the cedar and sage when it is wet. The air smelled so fresh and clean.
Not sure what the plans are for tomorrow. It is to rain again tomorrow but be sunny and clear on Tuesday and Wednesday. We may just hang out here again tomorrow as the boys will have had a long day today. Tuesday we will go on a hike in the mountains somewhere. David goes back to the west coast on Wednesday but Thomas is staying for ten days or so.
I fixed split pea soup with ham in the instant pot for dinner. It was good and easy to make. We will have to go to the grocery store tomorrow once the boys decide what they want to eat for dinner. We have left over soup and goulash from the night before for lunch tomorrow.
Grateful I have finally adjusted to the higher altitude, grateful for the rain today and the fresh smells in the air, and grateful for the mother deer and her baby that played in my front yard today.
