I hear there is a football game today. Wonder who is playing? Can you tell we are not sports fans in this house?
We got about two inches of snow today. It is foggy and lightly snowing now. Bitterly cold and is not going to get above freezing for the next ten days. We are finally getting a blast of winter. Not a fan! It will help me appreciate spring even more when it moves out of here.
The girls gave me 21 eggs on this cold, wintery day. When I opened the door to gather eggs none of them jumped outside. I gave them some sunflower seeds inside this morning and they were quite content to stay inside and eat them. Sometimes chickens are smarter than I give them credit for.
We got the Newsletters last night around 8:30 and had them done this morning by 10:00. She came to pick them up and brought me another two bunches to do. We got those done and she came back and picked them up. That project is done. It did feel good to have something productive to do.
I’m fixing fish sticks for Jim and a pice of grilled salmon for me for dinner. Part of it is in the oven and I’ll throw my salmon in a pan when Jim’s fish sticks are almost done. Dinner will be easy to fix tonight.
I didn’t make it into Cottonwood Falls to deliver the paper work to the seller of the investment property I am buying. He didn’t make it out here either. I have to go to town tomorrow to deliver eggs so will drop it by then. The roofing bid is at the new house and I am anxious to see what the bid is.
Other than delivering eggs tomorrow I have nothing else on the calendar. It has been so nice to stay home for the last three days and not leave the house. I don’t think we have much of anything on the calendar all week. It is too cold to get out much so glad our schedule is clear.
When I went out to the garage a bit ago to get something out of the freezer both dogs and cats were laying under the heat lamps. Earlier the dogs were out playing in the snow. They like cold weather. I’m glad they come in to warm up occasionally. May need to close the garage door tonight so they stay a bit warmer, although with their thick coats they will be OK with just the heat lamps. Tony, Jim’s big orange indoor/outdoor cat has chosen not to venture outside at all today.
My furnace has had a bit of trouble keeping the house warm today. I hope it isn’t a sign that it has a problem and is going to complete quit working. Not a good time for that to happen. I’ll keep an eye on it and call them tomorrow if it is still having trouble. Ice is covering the vent on the fireplace and it keeps blowing out so we don’t have that as a backup option.
I may bake some cookies after dinner. I’m in the mood to bake something. I took sugar cookies to the grandkids earlier this week so they probably don’t need any yet. I’ll throw them in the freezer if I bake and then I will be ahead for a batch or two.
Grateful for three quiet days at home, grateful for the beauty of the snow since I don’t have to get out and go somewhere, and grateful for a warm house.
