A windy day on the prairie today. The wind has been in a big hurry most of the day. It is working hard to bring in some warm weather. Lots of melting happened today and the rest will be gone tomorrow when it reaches the mid to upper 50’s. This afternoon the sun has come out and there is a hint of spring in the air.
The house has felt very quiet today after all the fun we had yesterday with the grandkids. I haven’t spent near as much time in the kitchen today as I did yesterday either. I was tired so I took a nap this afternoon. While I slept, Jim took a hike.
I only have 20 more rows on the blanket I am knitting. Yay! I may get it finished yet today. I knitted on it this morning while I watched church on my iPad. I will have end to weave in after I get it all knitted so I still have about two – three hours of work to go on it.
As soon as we got home last night from taking the kids into town I took my bath and went to bed. It was the quickest I was able to fall asleep in a long time. I slept for four hours, was up for three and then slept two more hours. It was a good night’s sleep for me.
Jim has decided to go to Stillwater tomorrow to get another load. He has a film project he wants to work on and needs some things from Stillwater to get started on it. I may go to Wichita tomorrow and make a Costco run. I have a list of things I need and the weather is to be good. We will see what happens tomorrow.
The girls gave us 25 eggs today. Jim said he would take 10 dozen with him to Stillwater and give them to people he knows there. It will be good to get the refrigerator cleaned out of eggs for a day. I will get rid of three dozen to my regular customers tomorrow. When you put two dozen eggs a day in the refrigerator it doesn’t take long for it to fill up.
Tuesday we need to clean out the chicken coop and give the girls some fresh linens. I look forward to being able to open their windows and airing the coop out for a bit. It has been locked up tight for a bit and is very stinky. We will also need to do a feed run one day this week and refill their food supply. Those girls do like to eat.
A week from Monday we will get to start on our new investment property. I see lots of painting and cleaning in my future for a bit. Sure hoping we won’t find too many surprises and that project can be accomplished in a month’s time. I would like to get it rented by April 1. Not sure if that is realistic or not until we get in there and get to take a really good look at it. We have decided our first choice will be to find a renter. If we can’t find someone then we will furnish it and will turn it into an Airbnb. We would make more with the Airbnb but it takes more work as we would have to clean it between clients, mow the yard, etc. We will see what happens.
One day this week I need to go to town and have my blood drawn for a thyroid check. Maybe I can do that Tuesday or Wednesday when we have to go to town for feed and groceries. I don’t have to be fasting for it so that makes it easier to just pop in and get it done. Thursday late afternoon we get our second COVID vaccine. Will get stocked up on groceries so if we have side effects afterwards we will have what we need and won’t have to go to town next weekend.
It will be so good to have that second vaccine done and be on our way to being fully protected. Having the grandkids out made me anxious to start having friends over again and slowly starting to rejoin the rest of the world.
I decided this year for Lent I am going to do 40 acts of intentional kindness. Not sure what all that might look like yet. I did my first one yesterday in taking a meal to some friends that are experiencing a sickness in their family circle. I will give it some more thought and keep my eyes and ears open to others in need. It will be fun to see what I notice and how I respond.
Grateful for the warmer temperatures headed our way, grateful the blanket is almost done, and grateful we can share eggs with friends.
