75 degrees on this second day of February in Stillwater, OK. I’ll take this weather any day of the week, month or year. It was bright and sunny out but the clouds are rolling in now. It is to snow on Wednesday. The ups and downs of winter in Oklahoma.
Went to church this morning. Several people had gotten their wedding invitations and we were greeted with much cheer. Most of the ones I know are going to be out of town during the wedding. It is spring break at the university and people are leaving town.
After church I started painting the outsides of the kitchen cabinets. It is slow going painting as there are lots of edges to cut in. The paint seems to drip more than the other paint did. We got cabinet paint and I had hoped it would be thick but it doesn’t seem to be. It is taking two coats to cover nicely. I have the lower set almost finished and will need to do ladder work next.
I didn’t like the color when I first put it on but since it has dried I like it. It is a smokey blue gray color.
Took a break from painting and took a four-mile hike. It was too nice of a day to stay inside and paint all afternoon. Now I am tired and getting back to painting is going to be a struggle. I almost have my 10,000 steps in for the day.
I bought some Impossible Burgers at Costco last week and we thawed some out for dinner tonight. Jim is going to fire up the grill and cook them outside. Thawed they look like hamburger patties with white cheese in it. Hope they are good.
Tomorrow I will get to do taxes for my first shift. Trusting I can figure out how to do the Oklahoma state returns. I don’t feel I was trained very good on how to do them. I will have to bug one of the experienced people and have them show me how to work them if I can’t figure it out.
I still can’t quite figure out how their system works so looking forward to having the first day done. I’m sure it works or they wouldn’t do it the way they do. I hope they keep me busy and I don’t have lots of time to sit around and wait. Maybe I will be so busy I won’t want to leave for lunch. The manager of the site told me to take good care of myself and slip away if I need to get lunch. Most only work half the day and a new crew comes mid-day to finish up the day.
Jim finished getting the dishwasher installed last night. We ran a short cycle with it empty to make sure their were no leaks and to get the dust out of it. We then loaded it and did the dinner dishes. This is the first time this house has ever had a dishwasher. Jim sat and watched it for about ten minutes. He is so excited it is in and working.
We got all the stuff put back into the cabinets. Jim needs to build some shelves for the upper cabinets. We put lots of coffee cups and various other dishes up there. Most are things that haven’t been used for years but Jim isn’t ready to let go of them yet. Once he put some shelves up he will have lots of room to store everything. It is nice to have it out of the easy to reach cabinets. They now have a bit of empty space which is nice.
I may not get back to painting after today until next weekend. I do taxes Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday we meet with the preacher for another pre-marital counseling session. Friday I have to take the car back to Oklahoma City to get the blind spot detection system checked out. It still is working very inconsistently.
The wedding is seven weeks from today. Sure wish my dresses would come in so I could cross that off my list. My shoes came in today – not sure I love them but they will work.
Grateful for another beautiful day and wonderful hike, grateful the cabinet painting has begun, and grateful the dishwasher is in and working well.
