We had a delightful dinner tonight. Some friends of Jim who used to live in Stillwater were in camp this week. They are leaving for KC tomorrow morning. They came up and joined us for dinner. I had briefly met them before and it was nice to get to know them a bit better.
I fixed green chicken, baked potatoes and roasted some vegetables. They had fresh peach cobbler with ice cream for dessert. They brought up the fixings for a green salad. All the food turned out perfectly.
Today we hung around the cabin. I did some cleaning in the bathroom and kitchen and found lots of dirt that was here before we came. We went to the library on campus and I checked out four books to read. I started one of them this afternoon. The library is really nice. Next year I won’t need to bring any books – I can just go get what ever I want from the library. I donated the five paperback books I had brought with me and read last week.
Tomorrow I think we are going to hang around and do laundry. We want to explore some volunteer opportunities for next year and possibly for the rest of the week. Jim wants to meet the chaplain and visit with him. We will probably take a hike in the afternoon on campus and go visit some of our favorite places around here.
Tuesday we are going on a long drive up to Rabbit Ears Pass and make a big loop to Fort Collins and then back up to Estes Park. Driving through the mountain scenery is always fun.
Sometime later this week I need to give some thought about meals for when Jim’s sons are here. We will need to go to the grocery store and get what we need to make them. They are coming in on Sunday and we will have to drive to Denver to pick them up. Jim is getting excited to see them.
My blood pressure came down today and is back to my normal. The bottom number is still higher than normal but the top one is much lower. My heart rate is still a bit faster than normal but that could be because of the altitude. I skipped my thyroid medication again this morning. I think I will take the pill form and not the liquid form tomorrow. I plan on sending a note to my Endocrinologist and see what she wants me to do. Thinking the liquid form dose needs to be reduced but not sure if she can call in a new script in CO. I think it can wait until I get home in two weeks and can get my TSH levels checked and we can go from there.
I’m starting to get concerned about when I might get to see my grandkids again. With COVID getting bad again I am thinking it might be a while. Dang it anyways. Jim and I plan to isolate a bit when we get home from CO just in case we picked something up while here or on the way home. The kiddos start school and they will be more likely to be exposed. With my recent health issues I feel pretty vulnerable right now. This is getting hard!
Grateful for dinner with friends tonight, grateful my blood pressure came back down, and grateful for the library on campus.
