Had a beautiful drumming circle last night. Seven of us gathered and sent love and peace out into the world. Five of the seven had never experienced a drumming circle before. I trust they will come again sometime. It was a perfect night to sit out and watch the sunset and the stars come out. It was nice and cool with a gentle breeze. The only problem was the June bugs that jumped into the fire pit.
Two of the drummers stayed overnight. We stayed up until midnight visiting. He is one of my disc golf guests that have stayed with me for two years. He and his wife and their family house sat for me a weekend while I was in CO. I enjoy their company.
Went out and painted for two hours this morning. I may go back out this evening when I get done writing and do some more. Jim is going to sand the steps and hand rails so I can’t paint them. I think I can find lots more of the deck that needs painted and not sanded. Sure will be glad when that project is done. Seems like we started it a long time ago. I got the long support beam done up to the point where I don’t know how to set the ladder so I can get to it. Maybe when I go out tonight a solution will present itself to me. I need to weed wack yet so may end of doing that instead.
Two more full days before surgery. My list of things I want to get done pre surgery is getting smaller so thinking I will get it all done the next two days. I have a haircut in the morning and will run a few errands while I am in Emporia and cross a few more things off my list. Still need to learn how to do steps with the crutches. I hate those damn things. I am getting around really well with the scooter. I have learned how to get in and out of my chair and get on and off the scooter without using my left foot. Practiced getting out of the bath tub last night without using my left foot. I almost was successful!
Have some phone calls to make tomorrow. Trusting it will be a day when I can talk on the phone. Sometimes that seems too hard to do for some reason.
Laid down for a bit this afternoon but couldn’t go to sleep. I slept for about four hours last night – not bad for me. I feel tired today and thought a nap sounded good but as soon as I laid down I woke up. Maybe I need to learn how to sleep standing up.
One of my guests from last December called me today. He was cleaning something and found my business card and decided to call to say hi. One of the guys that stayed with me for several months last summer called earlier this week. My favorite part of hosting an AIRBNB is the people I get to meet. I love when guests leave as friends.
This is my student intern’s last week here. He has kept to himself most of the time so I have forgotten he is in the house most of the time. I’m grateful he was here while I was gone so I had a house sitter.
I stamped three more sets of tea towels so I will have something to do while I can’t get around much. Doing hand work will make the time go by quicker. I also got some more dish rag yarn so I have those to make up if I need a different project. May not get any of it made and that’s OK too.
Just remembered I haven’t done my chicken chores today. Best get down there before the slackers go on strike. I got two fairy eggs last week. They aren’t good for much but they do make me smile when I see one.
Grateful for the beautiful drumming circle last night, grateful when my guests become friends, and grateful in 48 hours Jim will be here.
Thank you for your leadership, direction and generosity. Peace, strength, rest and healing for you.
