Thanks for all the birthday wishes and greetings yesterday. I had a quiet day at home. Got the yard mowed in the afternoon after Jim pumped up the tire. The air held while I was mowing. It felt good to get out and mow. It was dry though and my eyes are still a bit raw from all the matter that blew into them.
Today I have been cleaning up little areas. I got my desk cleaned off and organized. I have an updated to-do list so I feel a bit more organized and know what is going on. Feels good to make some progress on things pending.
Finally figured out what happened with the Y Camp and their billing. They had posted to my account Thursday evening and the bank put a hold on the funds they were going to charge. When we checked out Friday morning the clerk made an adjustment of $1 and then charged my card. The two amounts weren’t the same so the bank didn’t release the hold so that caused the bank to withdraw twice. The hold should drop off Monday and all will be back to normal. Frustrating experience though.
It is a hot one on the prairie today and is to be even hotter tomorrow. Thinking I like the temperature in the mountains better than in KS right now.
Tomorrow I have to go to Emporia and pick up a few things and then go to Olpe to pick up our beef. Trusting I will figure out a way to get it all in the freezer. A friend is taking a quarter of it tomorrow and I am taking another quarter to Nicole and Geoff on Tuesday. Just have to keep that quarter frozen overnight. Might have to store some things in the cooler overnight but I think I can make it all fit.
I need to call the old internet people tomorrow and find out why they billed me over $100. Hope to get that resolved tomorrow. I also need to find out when our new shower is going to be installed. They had told me it would be three months out and we are almost five months out now. I’m hoping to get that project done before the wedding which is September 25.
Tuesday I am going to KC to be with Nicole as she is having foot surgery Tuesday morning. I will stay until Wednesday or Thursday evening – depending on how she is doing. I have some shopping to do while I am in KC. I will take care of that when Geoff comes home in the evening.
Starting my fall house cleaning project. The wedding is giving me an incentive to get it all done. If I do one room a day between now and the wedding I will get it all done without pressure. I go through my house once a year looking for things I haven’t used all year. I figure if I haven’t used something within the last year I don’t need it. I reorganized all the closets, drawers, etc. and reduce the clutter. Jim is living in fear right now – LOL!
We are having fish for dinner tonight. I have to turn the oven on to bake it so will bake cookies after dinner since the oven will be on. Jim is down to his last bag of Snickerdoodles.
Did anyone see the moon last night? It was so bright that when I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom I didn’t have to turn any lights on. I had trouble sleeping this morning and got up for a bit and watched the moon set. I love the full moon on the prairie – it cast some wonderful moon shadows last night.
Changed the batteries in the dog collars and clipped their dew claws today. The new clippers I got really work nicely. They are the easiest ones I have ever used. We are raking buckets of fur out of the two dogs right now. This morning I was petting Roxy and pulling handfuls of fur off of her.
Finally feeling like all of me has gotten home. I was a bit ungrounded yesterday morning. Mowing helped me reconnect to the ground. Feels so good to be home and settled in again.
Grateful the mowing got done yesterday, grateful for all my friends and family that took time out to wish me happy birthday, and grateful to be still alive after 68 years on this planet.
