What a difference a day makes.  Today is winter weather icky!  Sleet, snow, rain and a cold wind.  Come on Mother Nature let us enjoy Spring.

Went to Pioneer Bluffs this morning around 9:00 to stuff the bags for the Bridal Crawl they were hosting today.  My fingers were ice before I was done.  Went over to the heated building to warm up before the brides started arriving a little before 11:00.  Left before 11:30 as most of the brides had checked in and they didn’t need me there any longer.  Stopped at Cottonwood Falls on my way home to drop off a box and to put a note on a door.  The business was supposed to have been a stop on the Bridal Crawl but somehow there was a communication failure and no one was scheduled to be there.

Went into Emporia to buy some groceries and then headed home.  Good to be tucked in for the afternoon with my fireplace on and my feet up in my recliner.  On a windy, cold winter’s day there is no place like home.

Still need to do some more housecleaning but it may wait another day or two.  The dust won’t go anywhere.  I didn’t sleep much at all last night and I am tired this afternoon.  After getting cold to the bone earlier today, I don’t have much energy left to use to clean.  May start a knitting project or do some reading or I might take a nap.

Nothing on my calendar for the next three days except going into Emporia to go to the library book sale either Monday or Tuesday.  A friend is coming on Thursday for the day to visit.  Nice to have a few empty space days ahead of me.

Ordered some canvas prints of some pictures I have taken of sunrises and sunsets on the prairie to put up in the bedrooms.  I was looking at artwork at Prairie Past Times  and decided I had some really good pictures I could use instead.  Much cheaper ordering canvas prints than buying framed art work.  Hope they turn out some what decent.  Still need to get two more ordered to decorate the third bedroom.

Decided to add the third bedroom to the Airbnb site.  The site charges a premium per head for over two people.  Might as well maximize my space and get the maximum amount per night possible.  With Kathy here the guests that stay in the third bedroom will have to share the bathroom with Kathy but she is easy to share with.  The other two bedrooms have their own private bathrooms.  Not sure how much use the third bedroom will get but it may attract some bigger groups.

Still haven’t figured out how to double book when only one or two people book the space.  I’ll send Airbnb an email when I am not so tired.

The chickens were anxious to get outside when I went down to feed them a bit ago.  They didn’t stay outside very long though.  When I went down to lock them up last night I played chase with two hens for a bit.  Round and round the coop we went until they finally went inside.  The sliding door was stuck and when I went into the coop to hand push it close two had escaped outside.  Drives me batty when they do that.

It is to be 80 on Wednesday and 83 on Thursday.  Talk about a yo-yo weather pattern!  Gotta love Kansas and the wide variety of weather we get in a week.  Frost bite today and sunburn on Thursday!  Sure wish we had gotten some real moisture out of the weather today.   Got only a trace of snow and moisture.  We need inches to help fill the ponds and the cracks in the ground.

A month from today Nicole and I leave for Barcelona and then on to Italy and France.  The trip will be here before I know it.  Will need to go clothes shopping the week before so I have something that fits to wear.  All I have right now that fits is jeans and t-shirts.  Jeans don’t dry very fast so I prefer to take pants that do.  I only take a carry on bag so will need to hand wash clothes a couple of times during our two-week adventure.  We stay two or three nights in a row at each hotel so will have time to get things dry before we have to pack up and move on down the road.  If I get really lucky the hotels will offer a 24 hour laundry service and I won’t have to hand wash.  Not sure if any of the places where we are staying does that or not.

There was a Great Pyrenees dog at Pioneer Bluffs today when I got there.  I am so grateful I found a way to keep mine home.  I’m sure my neighbors are glad I did too!

Grateful to be tucked in my cozy, warm house this afternoon, grateful for the empty space ahead of me, and grateful warmer weather will return this week.
