Happy birthday to my oldest daughter Michelle. It is so much fun watching her mother her children. Trust her day was full of love and laughter.
I had one of those nights last night where sleep was hard to come by. Trusting tonight will be the night when I get lots of sleep.
Today was the Celebration of Life Service for Jim’s niece. There was a wonderful crowd that came to the service. The service was full of laughter and music and did a perfect job of honoring her life. Christa was joy and love and the service reflected that.
It was nice to see most of Jim’s nieces and nephews and to get to spend some time with his brothers, sister and their spouses. I’m so glad I had gotten to meet them when we came earlier this year. This time I could almost keep the names straight and know who was who. They accept me so graciously and open their arms and hearts to me. I so appreciate that.
Tomorrow morning we head for OK. We will probably drive for eight to ten hours and stop for the night and drive the rest of the way Monday. We will see how traffic and weather is and decide how far we want to go. It will be good to get back to OK.
My foot held up today. I took my crutches to the service but didn’t need them. My foot is a tad sore tonight but not bad considering how much I was on my feet today. I will get to sit all day tomorrow since I will be in the car. Sure hoping the doctor will tell me Tuesday that I don’t need to use the crutches any more.
It rained this afternoon but the timing was perfect. The family did a dove release after the service and the sun was shining and it was beautiful standing outside watching it. We moved to the fellowship hall for an ice cream social and it started to rain. By the time we were ready to leave the church the rain had stopped.
Grateful for the life and love of Christa and her family, grateful we are heading home tomorrow, and grateful my foot continues to heal and improve daily.
