It has been good to have Jim home today. We went to Bluestem and did a feed haul. Came home with 350 pounds of chicken and dog food. It took Jim a bit to get it all sorted into smaller containers in the barn. Good to have feed stocked back up again. They only had one bag of dog food so will have to get some more of that next time I go to Bluestem. The supply of chicken feed should last over a month.
When we got in the driveway on the way home we heard a screeching noise coming from the back of the car. Jim got out and I drove the car forward a bit. We both recognized the sound as a rock in the brake hub. This happened before. I came in and called Subaru tow line. The car will have to be towed to the dealer in Topeka on Monday. It will take them five minutes to fix it.
Jim was going to head to Stillwater Monday morning but now I need him to take me to Topeka. He might take me to Topeka and then head south after that. Dang it anyways. It will waste three hours of our time to go get the car. I was supposed to take the Subaru in to get the oil changed on Monday. I called and cancelled that and I will reschedule once I know when I will get the car back for sure.
I had asked last time this happened if there was something that could be done to prevent this from happening. They service manager told me he only knew of one other car that had it happen twice. Wish I could hit the lottery and win that instead of this exception to the rule issue.
I fell asleep in my chair this afternoon. I had another night of little sleep last night. I was restless most of the night. Guess my body decided it finally needed a bit of sleep this afternoon. Hope I can sleep again tonight.
I cleaned another bedroom today. Good to have one more room crossed off the list. Slowly but surely I am getting this house clean again. Now if Tony, Jim’s cat, will cooperate and help me keep things clean I will be good to go.
I am grilling chicken for dinner tonight. That will be an easy dinner to fix. Jim will get a baked potato with his and I will eat a veggie. I have done much better not cheating the last two days. Feels good to be back on plan.
Melissa and her mother are coming out tomorrow so we can finalize wedding plans. Her mother hasn’t seen my house so it will be good for her to do so. Then she and Melissa can have a visual of what things look like and will be able to make their last minute plans. Only two weeks to go. I’m getting excited now that I have a dress to wear.
I’m trying to talk Jim into staying in Stillwater for ten days straight and then stay home for a longer time. I will need his help the couple of days before the wedding. He would have more work days in Stillwater if he would stay longer at a time. We will see what he decides to do.
Jim held Miss Ellie, one of my cats, and I cut off the clumps of hair on her back. She has a matting thing going on and I must have cut out 7 or 8 clumps of fur. She tolerated it well today and let me work on her. Miss Ellie looks a bit like a toddler that got hold of a pair of scissors and gave themself a hair cut. We need to catch Bell, the other cat, and do the same to her.
It reached over 90 again on the prairie today. I am ready for the rain that is to come in Tuesday and Wednesday. It is time for our fall cool down. Summer can go away for the year as far as I am concerned. I’m ready for sweatshirt and jeans weather and to turn the A/C off and open up the house.
Grateful the feed supply is stocked, grateful the car can be fixed, and grateful Jim is home.
