Jim just left to go back to Stillwater. He will be back Tuesday late afternoon after he teaches his last Osher class Tuesday morning. It is a bit easier to let him go home today since I know he will be back in three days.
Painted two more sets of deck rails this afternoon after we took our 2 1/2 mile walk. The wind was a bit brisk but otherwise it is a beautiful day on the prairie. The deck sure looks better with the rails painted. It is motivating me to get the rest done. I will go out again tomorrow and paint for a couple of hours and see how far I can get. I’ll still have Monday and Tuesday to see if I can get this part of the deck finished.
My guests have been out and about most of the day. They just came back in and are going to rest a bit and then they are going to go into Emporia for dinner. They have had a fun, relaxing day exploring the prairie. Tomorrow I will need to get their room cleaned and bedding and towels washed up. They are my last scheduled guests until next April.
Tonight I will finish knitting another baby blanket. Not sure what I am going to do with all the baby blankets I have made lately but am sure they will eventually find a home. Have some tea towel sets stamped I need to finish up too. I’m sure I’ll get lots done on them the next six weeks when my mobility is a bit limited.
Monday I need to go into Emporia and buy some groceries and a few other things. Trying to anticipate any thing I might need for the next six weeks when I won’t be able to drive. Jim can take me to town but getting around a store on the knee scooter or on crutches is a pain.
I stayed on plan while Jim was here this time. I didn’t eat any snacks or white potatoes. That felt good to know I could get back on the wagon and stay on it while he is here. He approved of all the meals I fixed and didn’t seem to notice the lack of potatoes or all the additional vegetables I served. I still need to put some menus together for the week after surgery so I can get what I need at the grocery store Monday. I feel so much better when I stick to plan.
I have a few more items to get for our Thanksgiving Dinner and the Holiday meal for my family Thanksgiving week. Some of the items I will have to wait and get the week of as they won’t be good by then if I buy them now.
I got a down comforter while I was at Costco Thursday. I am loving it! So light weight but so warm! I have slept well under it the last two nights. The house was almost too warm last night as I have the thermostat turned on downstairs for my guests. When it is on downstairs the upstairs gets too hot. I like a 64 degree bedroom at night and last night it was 70.
I’m not a fan of daylight savings time. Hard to think at this time tomorrow night it will almost be sunset time. Wish they would leave the time alone and not make us go through two adjustment periods a year.
Sitting with a grateful heart today. The house is getting so many overdue projects completed. This house can overwhelm me sometimes with all it takes to keep it up and running. I’m so grateful for Jim’s help in advising me and helping me do some of the labor it takes to make the house and grounds look nice.
Grateful for more painting done today, grateful I am back on my eating plan, and grateful Jim will be back in three days.
