Travel day today. Nicole and I went on a walk this morning and ate breakfast at a cafe instead of in the hotel. The food in the hotel was barely edible and we decided we needed a good breakfast. We found it! Too much food to eat but what we did eat was very good.
Went to the Saturday market for a bit and looked around. Neither one of us bought anything but it was fun to look.
Met up with the group at 10:00 and traveled by bus to the airport. We had a three and one-half hour flight today from Cairns to Melbourne. Flight left on time and all our luggage arrived. Traveled by bus to the hotel in Melbourne and got checked in. This hotel is much nicer than the one we just left in Cairns.
Had a group dinner this evening. The food was interesting. I didn’t recognize much of what was in the salad. The tour director forgot to bring down the sheet that recorded what everyone ordered. We were the last table served and ended up with beef. I’m sure I ordered chicken as I don’t eat much beef. I did manage to eat the mashed potatoes and the beef for dinner. Several at our table were not able to do so.
I came back up to the room and took a bath. Nicole went out for a walk. I needed some peace and quiet. When we came in to the hotel the streets were crowded and I wasn’t in the mood to people any more tonight.
Tomorrow we have a group tour to orientate ourselves to the city. Then we have free time. We are signed up to go see the Penguin Walk but may or may not go. We have to leave at 3:00 and won’t be back until 11:30. Not sure when we are going to get dinner. We leave for our long travel day Monday morning so not sure I want to be out that late. We will see what we find to do tomorrow and may cancel the trip if we find something better to do.
Hard to believe we only have one full day left in Australia. The time has flown by.
Found out my Marine is going to get laid off work next week so he will be leaving me. My student left too so I will have my house to myself again. It will be weird to be alone most of the time again.
Grateful for another safe travel day, grateful for some peace and quiet time tonight, and grateful for this wonderful adventure I have been on.
