I almost forgot to write today. It has been another busy day. I got up early and headed into town to paint. A friend came by to see the house and may be interested in renting it. I got most of the knobs put on the kitchen cabinets. Painted the bathroom woodwork and other woodwork here and there throughout the house. Touched up the kitchen cabinets and walls. It is getting closer every day to being done.

Came home a little after noon and had lunch. Jim and I went into Emporia to get two new interior doors and a few other little things we needed for the house. Came home and we both took a nap.

After dinner we went back into the house and got some more work done. Jim got part of a bedroom shelving unit cleaned out and I did more painting. We are both tired tonight.

My last two guests left this morning while I was in town painting. It was fun having all the guys here this week and it is nice to have our house back to quiet and normal again. I have done four loads of laundry today and need to get four beds made up tomorrow. I emptied trash and did a bit of cleaning downstairs. Still have a bit more to do tomorrow and then things will be back to normal.

I made list of things that the handyman needs to do next week. I have no idea how long some of them will take. Some are fairly quick and easy things and others not so much. He is hoping to be done mid-week. We will see if he can get it all done in three days.

We had an extra storage shed on the property and the handyman took it down today. He is going to reassemble it and use it in his back yard. It is nice to have it gone. One more thing off the to-do list.

Tomorrow I plan on going in again to paint in the morning while Jim sleeps. Then sometime in the afternoon or evening we will both go in and get the rest of the bedroom stuff taken apart and removed. Then that room will be ready to be patched so I can paint it next week. I have to wait until we are done with the saw that is in the other bedroom to paint it. The back room has gotten full again of stuff and I will have to wait until it gets cleared out before I can paint it. Hoping by the end of the week we can clear everything out of the house except my painting stuff and I will get all the painting done in another week or so. May not make it but that is my goal. Painting walls sure goes faster than painting woodwork.

This house is starting to yell at me for some of my time to clean it up again too. I can work on it during the day next week while the handyman is working on the other house. Tomorrow the rental house takes priority as the handyman isn’t there.

Monday I have to go to Emporia for a blood draw. Sometime the next few days we need to clean out the chicken coop. I have a doctor’s appointment Thursday and then am going to lunch with some friends Thursday noon. Other than that we have a quiet week coming up. Hoping I can have a day or two of staying home and getting some things done at this house.

I mowed last week and the yard is starting to look like it needs mowed again already. I have raised a bountiful crop of dandelions this year. I wish they would quit sending up seed stocks – they make the yard look untidy and they are hard to mow down. The yard must have liked the rain we got last week and used it to grow grass.

Jim brought a bunch of iris up from Stillwater last year. They are just now starting to bloom and are beautiful. They have lots of buds getting ready to open. Iris is one of my favorite spring flowers. The critters seem to leave them alone out here which is amazing as they eat most every other flower that gets planted.

On May 1, 2013 Craig and I sold our McDonald’s restaurants and retired. Hard to believe that was eight years ago. Some times it feels like it have been eight months and other times it feels like it was a different life time ago that we owned and ran the stores. I’m so grateful we were able to retire early and have some wonderful years to do other things in life besides working 24/7.

Jim reminded me today that it has been almost a year since he moved to KS. We returned from Stillwater June 1 last year. This year has flown by. It sure doesn’t feel like Jim has lived here full-time for almost a year.

Sometime soon I will need to make a trip to Costco. I might try to schedule a lunch with my daughter in KC. I forget that is back on the table as an option now. We also want to go to Wichita to visit my Aunt Marylyn. I can’t seem to wrap my head around the fact that I can go places again.

Grateful more work was done on the rental house today, grateful for the guests that came to stay for a bit, and grateful for the beautiful Iris that are blooming.
