I was sound asleep when the alarm went off this morning. The straw rancher was bringing straw this morning and I wasn’t sure what time she was coming. So I got up early in case she showed up. She didn’t get here until 10:30 so I could have slept two more hours. Oh well, I have a fresh supply of straw so I can change the chicken linens now. The straw rack Jim built works nicely and held all 10 bales she brought today plus plus the two I had on hand.

I took a nap this afternoon and slept hard for two hours. I’m still tired tonight but am hoping I will be able to sleep tonight again. Once my body decides to sleep that is all it wants to do.

I went to the rental property this afternoon to check on the progress of the removal of the grain bin. It was gone when I went in mid-afternoon. Yay! Another big sign of progress. The neighbor said they had used a Skid Loader and it only took them a couple of hours to move it out of there. I’m glad I sold it to someone that knew what they are doing and were able to get it to go away quickly.

I unloaded my car with the stuff we bought yesterday – the two ceiling fans, paint and paint supplies. When I opened the side door of the car one of the paint buckets fell out and the lid fell off. I spilled 2/3 of the gallon of paint in the grass by the driveway. Dang it anyways! That was the fastest I have ever gone through 2/3 of a bucket of paint. My new neighbor came over and asked what he could do to help. He went and got a bucket and a shovel and cleaned up my mess. I think I like my neighbor. Now I get to buy another gallon of paint. I will wait and make sure I like the color and use up what I have first. Not sure how much I will use. I spilled the bucket of kitchen cabinet paint and I don’t think it will take a lot of paint to do them. We will see how I come out.

While I was at the house I carried another 20 loads or so of stuff into the dumpster from the old garage we are going to tear down tomorrow. There is still a lot of stuff to clear out of it before Jim can start tearing it down. The big newer garage still has a lot of stuff to clear out too. The people that took the grain bin piled the stuff that was in it in a big pile and that all needs to get loaded in the dumpster. We will have plenty of work to do tomorrow afternoon.

I made a potato salad and boiled and peeled the eggs for deviled eggs this morning. I also made two pans of Rice Krispie Treats for the kiddos. Tomorrow morning I will fix baked beans in the crock pot, finish up the deviled eggs and make a dessert. Then when we get done with our big work project and come to the house all I will have to do is grill the hamburgers and hot dogs. That will make for an easy dinner after a hard afternoon of work.

Tim came out late afternoon and picked up the trailer. I sent one of the pans of Rice Krispie Treats home with him.

It will be nice to get most of the stuff into the dumpster tomorrow. Not sure we will get the old garage all the way torn down but that may go faster than I think it will. I wouldn’t know how to start to do that project. There will be four adults working so the moving stuff into the dumpster part should go rather fast. I’ve gotten lots done in just the few hours I have worked at it so far. The weather is to be beautiful again tomorrow so it will be a nice day to spend outside cleaning up the yard. I sure would like for the dumpster to be able to go away next week but I don’t know if we can make that happen this soon or not.

Monday I have to deliver eggs and then go into Emporia as I have a haircut in the afternoon. I need to stop and get a gallon of woodwork paint and some paint to use to paint the inside of the kitchen cabinets. I also need some liners for my paint bucket. I’m hoping I can start washing kitchen cabinets Monday after my hair cut so I can start painting on Tuesday. We will see if Plan A works.

Don’t have much else on the calendar for next week other than Jim has his class to teach Thursday afternoon. He will need some time to finish up his prep work for that. I’m hoping to get to the new property and get a couple hours a day of painting and cleaning done. Part of the work will have to wait until the electrician can come and get their job done.

I worked for a bit on the hot line last night. I am six calls away from leveling up after handling 494 conversations since I started last May. I had a couple of interesting ones last night and felt like I helped at least two of them. I may get on tonight if they get busy and I am not too tired. I have put in 12 hours this week already though and they recommend you only work a maximum of 12 hours a week. They have been so busy that they are not enforcing that recommendation though.

We had left overs for dinner tonight. With the eggs all cleared out and now the left overs cleared out I can find things again in the refrigerator. The eggs will start piling up again soon though. It is nice to have them all gone for a day.

Grateful for my new neighbor’s help in cleaning up my paint spill, grateful the straw got delivered today, and grateful the grain bin is gone.
