I was woken up by a severe thunderstorm this morning.  The winds must have reached 70 MPH for a bit.  I lost a good sized tree to the wind.  It snapped at the base of the trunk.  Luckily it fell in a spot where it did no damage to something else.  I almost went to the basement the wind was so strong.

I couldn’t go back to sleep so got up before 6:00 and started working on the Pioneer Bluffs Newsletter.  They are all stuffed and I am glueing the last box of envelopes closed.  It will be good to get that project done.  My arms and back are getting sore from stuffing them.

Ellexia text me late morning and asked if she could come out for a bit.  Her Mom has to work tonight and was sleeping and Ellexia was bored and hungry.  I picked her up a little after noon and took her to lunch and brought her out for the afternoon.  Tim came and got her when he got off work at 4:00.  We had a quiet afternoon together.  She was really good for me today.  It is so much easier to have the grandchildren one at a time.  Tagen is at his dad’s house this weekend.

I have a second set of sheets washed and dried and now need to make up the two beds I took them off of.  I haven’t gotten started cleaning yet as I played too much with Ellexia and am still doing the Newsletter.  Now that I am almost done with the Newsletter and Ellexia went home I will get some cleaning done.

We are under a severe thunderstorm watch for the rest of the night.  Trusting the storms won’t be as strong as the one that came through this morning was.  I love hearing the thunder echo over the prairie but I don’t like strong winds.

Ran into one of our ex-employees while Ellexia and I were having lunch.  Found out her husband had died in March.  I hadn’t heard he passed.  I feel bad I wasn’t there to support her when he died.  He was a kind and gentle man.  He had suffered with Alzheimer’s for seven years.  She kept him at home all that time.  It was good to see her.  She started working for us when we opened our first store in 1988 and was our first store manager.  I’m ashamed I haven’t kept in better contact with her.

Tomorrow I will finish cleaning my house and enjoy an empty space type of day.  Monday I will need to go into Emporia and stock up on critter feed.  Monday evening I am going to teach my student intern how to do chores and how to use the riding mower.  Sometimes it seems like a lot of work to be able to get away to play for a week or so.  I have covered three of the four weekends I will be gone already.  I am so grateful for my dear friends that come out to stay and take care of the critters and house.

Feeling a bit of restlessness today.  Thinking the weather has a bit to do with it.  I am also very tired.  Thankfully I am feeling better.  I don’t think I have a UTI as the symptoms went away.  I have tried to drink lots of water today as a precaution.  It is windy and steamy outside this afternoon.  Sure feels like a storm could blow up anytime.

Grateful the Newsletter is almost done, grateful Ellexia came to play today, and grateful I didn’t have serious damage from the storm last night.
