It has been a busy few days on the prairie. I am still not sure how many people are sleeping overnight at my house. Some come just to take showers, some sleep here one night but not the next, some have been here the whole time. They are all nice people and very polite and thankful for a place to come to.
The deck guy came and got the decks power washed and the house outside walls cleaned. He did a good job. Now if the weather dries out I can start staining the decks. They have to be dry at least two days before I can stain them and they need two days afterwards to dry. May be August before I get to them.
The grandkids came out yesterday afternoon. Jim and I took them to the rodeo last night. I hadn’t been to a rodeo for a long time. Ellexia really enjoyed it. Tagen liked it but he got tired of it quick. I was a bit uncomfortable at times – my religious and political bias and preferences surfaced at times. It was too loud for me too. Not sure I will go back another time. It was fun to people watch. I didn’t see too any people I knew though.
I have a load of towels in the washer and the trash has been gathered up. I have a houseful of guests hanging out for the afternoon until they have to go to work around 5:00 tonight. It will be nice to have the house to ourselves for the evening.
Tomorrow I will have lots of beds to make up. My intern is moving in tomorrow afternoon so will need to get his room and bathroom done first. Hopefully that guest will leave rather early tomorrow morning. I will have to figure out how to let the air out of the four air mattresses that have been in use and get the ones I borrowed returned to their owner.
Going to try making dinner in the instant pot tonight. I have had one for a long time but have never been brave enough to use it. Jim’s son has one and showed me how to use it. Hope what ever I make turns out OK.
Jim and Tagen got the tires fixed on my wheelbarrow. The inner tubes had rotted out and needed replaced. I pulled the weeds around the swings yesterday. Today I need to mow the little fenced in yard.
I think we are going to run to town either this afternoon or Monday and go to Bluestem and True Value. I want to pick out the deck stain and I need chicken feed and dog food. Might as well use Jim’s strength to make that shopping trip easier.
I have a bit of a headache today. I had one yesterday too. Thinking it is because I have not done a good job staying on my eating plan. I haven’t eaten stuff I shouldn’t but have been eating stuff I normally don’t eat.
It is another beautiful day on the prairie. It is to be in the high 80’s today with a chance for a severe thunderstorm later. I haven’t turned the air conditioner on yet. The forecast shows a chance of storms everyday next week. Maybe they will be small ones and dissipate quickly or not even materialize.
It has been nice having Jim around again. We are having a good time together. He has enjoyed visiting with the guests.
Grateful the step one of the deck project is done, grateful the grandkids came to play yesterday, and grateful Jim is here today!
