This has been a rest and recovery day for Ellexia and I. I had trouble falling asleep last night. I was up until about 5:00 this morning but was then able to sleep until about 9:30. Ellexia didn’t come upstairs until almost noon.

I fed Ellexia pancakes and eggs for breakfast. Michelle took her to town early afternoon so Ellexia could spend tonight with her dad.

I did three loads of clothes we had taken on the cruise and got them folded and put away. It always feels good to get things put back in place after being gone.

I went out and did some mowing this afternoon. The rancher guy came while I was gone and cut the outer yard and baled it. There is a line of tall grass he can’t cut due to the rocks. It is hard mowing as there are lots of rocks that the tall grass hides. There were hundreds of grasshoppers that flew up in my face. There is some weed that has a head full of fiber like things that when I cut it fly everywhere. I feel like I have them stuck in various places on my body. My feet were black when I took off my sandals when I was done. Glad that job is done.

I sent a letter to my last years egg customers letting them know I am back in the egg business. I came home to six dozen eggs on the counter and got 17 eggs today from the girls. Some of the eggs are still rather small but some are getting to be regular sized. Getting lots of double yolk eggs right now. I am selling them for $3 a dozen through August then in September the price will be $4 a dozen or two dozen for $7.50. I hated to raise prices but the price of chicks had doubled from a year ago and feed has gone up 25%. I don’t make a profit of any sort on the eggs. I probably have $800 in the chicks at this point with just feed and cost of chicks. Don’t think I can make that up let alone the continuing price of feed and hay. They are fun though and bring me joy which is why I raise them. I love farm fresh eggs. If you like farm fresh eggs too, hit me up and I will get you some as I have them.

Haven’t done much else today. I will fix dinner for Tagen in a bit. I laid out some chicken tenders and will make some macaroni and cheese to go with it. I will have to get back in the swing of making food. I can’t just leave my bedroom and go find it all ready for me. Dang it anyways!

Next week I need to try to get the plumber out. He never did show up after promising me two weeks ago he would come. I’ll have to push him a bit this week and get him out here. I am tired of that project on my pending list.

No other plans for next week. It will be good to stay home for a bit. I am going to town tomorrow to pick up a grocery order. I bet I will have to do another one mid-week as I am not sure what I needed for tomorrow. I ordered the basics and will catch up later this week on things I missed.

I posted my trip blogs when I got home last night. The internet on the cruise ship was not the best and I couldn’t post from the ship. I wrote every night so I posted five new blogs in one day last night. It helps me process the day to write and I would forget most of the stuff if I don’t get it down shortly after it happens.

Sitting in a good head space, although I am feeling a bit empty. The noise and crowd on the ship drained me but with only a few exceptions didn’t pull me below neutral on the consciousness scale. I trust I will be able to refill rather quickly and will be able to people again soon.

Tagen only has two more weeks before his Vo-Tech school starts and Lex only has two and one-half weeks before 8th grade begins. That will change things around here having them gone most of the day. It will almost feel like things are back to normal. We have to figure out transportation to town for them but that will sort itself out sooner or later.

Tagen is having trouble getting his key out of his 1987 Ford Ranger. Anyone know anything about these things and could help the kid out? I am so ignorant about those type of things.

Grateful for a quiet day on the prairie, grateful the tall grass is cut for the year, and grateful for lots of eggs from my girls.
