Got up early this morning after sleeping for four hours.  I couldn’t get a second sleep so I got up.  Went out around 7:30 and cleaned out the chicken coop.  It was nice and cool and it was easy to clean out today.

Went into Strong City to the hardware store and got a new can opener.  I needed to go to Emporia to get new oil pans for the chicken coop as the ones I have are rusted through.  I also need a new toner cartridge for my printer but couldn’t summon the energy to drive to Emporia today.  Neither item were emergencies so decided they could wait until my next trip to town.  It was nice to be able to easily open a can of beets for my salad at lunch today.  I also found out that if I take my deck paint can into them they can order the paint I might need to finish the deck project.  They are a True Value Hardware store.  The True Value Hardware store in Emporia where I got the paint is no longer a True Value Hardware and can no longer get the paint I need. That was an easy solution to a potential problem.

Finished printing a paper copy of my blog entries.  I was way behind printing them so it took a while to do so.  My printer gets confused if I get ahead of it so I have to wait until it starts printing the pages before I can move on to tell it to print the next page.  It must not like to multi-task!  I have an electronically backup but I lost over a years of blog posts when the blog company changed software and no longer trust that the backup works like it is supposed to.  Not sure what I am going to do with the paper copies but I feel better knowing I have them if the system crashes.

Went to Pioneer Bluffs to volunteer for the Day of the Cowboy event they hosted today.  I only stayed for two hours.  They had plenty of volunteers and didn’t need me.  I saw some friends and visited for a bit with them.  I wasn’t in a talkative mood today and came home early.  The event seemed to be well attended and people were having a good time.

Came home feeling a bit light-headed so laid down and took a nap.  I feel fine now.  I was hot and tired and probably a bit dehydrated.  I’ve been pushing fluids since I woke up and the light-headedness has gone away.  When my thyroid levels get out of whack I can have blood pressure issues so will start checking my blood pressure and keeping an eye on it.

Got the final set of lab results back.  I was surprised my potassium levels were good as I had forgotten to take the potassium pills with me on vacation.  Maybe I don’t need them anymore.  The only result that was concerning beside my TSH level being way too high was the BUN level.  It was 36 which is the highest I have ever had and above the 20 recommended high.  My levels have slowly been creeping higher these last two years.  BUN has something to do with kidneys.  I have been having lots of leg and foot cramps lately so will mention that to the doctor when I have my pre op exam Tuesday.  I have a full physical scheduled for August 19 so will have two chances to talk to him about it.

Tomorrow I have absolutely nothing on my calendar that has to be done.  I may get out and do some deck painting tomorrow morning if I get up early enough.  It will be nice to get back on that project.  The deck has been patiently waiting for me to get back to it.  The steps need sanded before I can paint them but there is a support beam that I can do.  It is high ladder work but if I go slow and steady I can get it done.  Jim is going to sand and paint while he is here taking care of me after my foot surgery in August.  I bet I can paint the low stuff once I get put in a boot one or two weeks after surgery.  I won’t do the ladder stuff with a boot on.

Monday I am going to KC all day.  I am meeting a friend for lunch, have an appointment with my trust attorney in the afternoon, meeting another friend for coffee, and then going out to dinner with Nicole and Geoff.  It will be a long day but a fun one.  I also need to go to Costco and pick up a few things.  Tuesday I have a doctor’s appointment in Emporia in the morning for my pre op clearance.  Wednesday I should be able to get back to painting in the morning before it gets too hot.

The house feels big and empty to me this evening.  I realize how much richer my life is with Jim around.

Grateful the girls have fresh linens tonight and the job of cleaning out the chicken coop is done, grateful my blog posts are copied and caught up, and grateful buying a can opener solve a potential paint problem.
