This has been a rainy, cool day on the prairie today. I turned off the A/C and opened the windows. Rare for the middle of August in KS but I will take it. I have a bit of fall fever today.
I got up fairly early this morning and took the dogs one by one on their morning walk. I walked about 45 minutes all together. It was so nice and cool and easy to walk today.
Did a bit of housework today. I can always find more to do but got what was bugging me taken care of.
I sent a couple of emails to get some business matters taken care of. My attorney responded right back. Not sure why he is working on a Saturday but I appreciated the quick response.
I have been doing a beneficiary review of all of my accounts. I try to remember to do that each year in my birthday month. I even pulled out the will and trust paperwork and read through them to see if there is anything that needs changed in them. I discovered two of my CD’s didn’t have a beneficiary designated so took care of that. Those things are easy to miss and it can cause problems should something happen to me.
I still need to write up a personal effects disposition directive. I am not sure I have much that the kids will want but if I had one, the few things I do have will then go to the right person. I am not too attached to physical things so I’m not sure I care what happens to my things. However, if it would make it easier for the kids, I will write one out.
I will need to find a day to go to KC soon. My attorney is preparing some papers that I will need to go sign. I have some dear friends in KC that I haven’t seen for a long time so may try to time it so I can have lunch with them. That would make the long drive worth it.
Hard to believe the grandkids will be starting school next week. This summer went by quickly. Ellexia will be a freshman and Tagen will be doing his second year at the Vo-Tech completing his welding program. I trust they both will have a successful and fun year.
Life seems to be slowing back down for me. Most of the house improvement projects I had going on are completed. The foundation guy is coming Monday so that may start another project. I still need to get the porch rebuilt but that is going to happen later this fall. It is good to have a brief respite from a long pending list.
Grateful for a cool August day, grateful the house is a bit cleaner today, and grateful for the peaceful valley I am finding myself in.
