Only took the one pain pill yesterday morning and haven’t taken any today so far. Pain is minimal and when it hits if I elevate my foot and put ice on it I can handle it. I did take some ibuprofen once today as that seems to help.
Went into Emporia late morning. Needed to deposit a check at the bank and then went to see the grandkids. Tim broke his elbow yesterday at work so we were checking in with him to see if he needed anything. Ended up taking the two grandkids to Freddie’s for lunch. They ate well and behaved themselves. Brought Tim home a hamburger and then we came home. I wasn’t up to picking up a few things I have on my list of things I need.
I was exhausted when we got home. My foot was a bit sore from the adventure out. I laid down for a bit when we got home and iced it and it feels better now. I never did go to sleep but it felt good to stretch out and rest my leg and foot.
I’ve finished three tea towels so far and am working on the fourth one. Sitting and doing nothing is not my style! My foot seems to feel best though when I have it propped up on my chair and I stay off of it. It is hard to carry anything and control the scooter at the same time.
Am sure hoping Wednesday I will get put in a boot and will be able to go to partial weight bearing. The doctor said that would happen at either the first or second week appointment. As far as I can tell the swelling is minimal which will help expedite the healing.
Tuesday I have a dentist appointment to see what needs to be done to the tooth I chipped over a month ago. This appointment is only an evaluation and not a fix it appointment. Wednesday I go to to Wichita for my one week appointment to get the dressing changed and the incision checked.
So far! So good! It has been less painful than I expected. I managed to get in and out of the bath tub last night. It felt so good to soak in the hot water of the bath last night. I managed to sleep almost all night long without the assistance of pain pills. That is amazing for me. My head is clearing up a bit from the effects of the drugs that have been put through my system. My muscles are adjusting to the different movements I make getting around. Everything still seems like a struggle to do but I am adapting.
Grateful for Jim’s presence and help, grateful to see the grandkids today, and grateful for a bath last night.
