I finally feel like I did something productive today. Jim is remodeling his front porch. We went to Lowe’s and he purchased the railings he is adding to the porch. I painted 48 of them this afternoon. It felt good to actually do something. I sat on a stool and painted so I stayed off my foot. My foot is a bit cranky this evening but it can just get over itself. I’m tired of it’s whinny moods!
I have dinner cooking. Jim is still outside working on the porch. It has been a good Labor Day around here. Progress is being made.
We should hear tomorrow when the Celebration of Life is going to be for Jim’s niece. Once we have a date we can firm up plans to head to Asheville. I have some back up plans ready to go in case I need them. Hard to know what to plan for until we have a date though.
The guy that is going to repair my back yard retaining walls sent me a text today. He is going to move equipment to my house tomorrow and get that job started. I have had that project on my to do list for over two years. It will be good to finally get it crossed off.
Tomorrow I have Physical Therapy. It will be my last appointment with the lady here in Stillwater. She has been vey good and I would go back to her anytime. I’ll find out Wednesday at my surgeon’s appointment if I need to do more PT in Emporia. I am hoping on Wednesday the doctor will tell me that I can stop using my crutches and stop having to put tape on my foot. I know I still need to wear the boot as my foot still hurts when I stand on it without the boot. Crutches and I have an agreement these days but it is tenuous at best. The tape between my big toe and the toe next to it drives me crazy. Oh my, it is the little things in life that get to me sometimes!
Thursday my new washing machine is to be delivered. I am also having a new internet provider install their equipment. Trusting it will be fast enough service that I can get a system from my son in law so I can have TV for Jim. Jim is a news junkie. I also have a guy coming to give me a bid for solar panels. Trying to find ways to reduce my monthly expenses in the house and utilities are one of my bigger expenses. Trusting we won’t have to leave for Asheville before Thursday but if we do I have a back up plan.
We were out late last night and I got to see the moon. It made me realize I am a bit homesick for the open prairie. I sure miss seeing the sunrises and sunsets and the moon when I am in town and away from home.
Wednesday marks four weeks from surgery so I should only have two more weeks in the boot! My foot sure looks different than the other one now that the swelling has gone down. It really hasn’t been as bad as I thought it might be. Not sure I am excited about having the other one done and starting this whole process over again but the second one should be easier since I know what to expect.
Grateful to have found something productive to do today, grateful my retaining wall is finally going to get repaired, and grateful I got to see the moon last night.
