I got a text this morning at 7:00 telling me the tow truck was on the way to pick up my car. I got up quickly and took a shower and got dressed. Jim got up too. The driver showed up at 8:15. He seemed to know what he was doing and got the car loaded and on its way to Topeka.
I called the dealer around 11:00 to make sure the car arrived and to see if they had an estimate as to when it would get done. I also asked if they had a permanent fix to this problem as this is the second time a rock has gotten stuck in between the brake shoe and shield. The guy had no idea when they might get to it other than sometime today and there is not a fix. He said it was really rare that it happens a second time and he has never had it happen a third time. Wonder if I will be his first? I sure hope not. It is a pain to have to drive to Topeka to pick the car up.
They called at 2:45 to tell us the car was ready. We left at 3:00 to drive to Topeka and pick up the car. The guy told me when I picked it up that I could take it most anywhere that can put the car on a lift and they can reach in and take out the rock. He also told me it is safe to drive even though it squeals like a pig when I drive it. He assured me it won’t damage the breaks.
We got back home by 5:00. Talk about a quick trip to Topeka and back again. It is nice to have my car back.
Tony, Jim’s cat, has been peeing huge amounts and drinking lots and lots of water. I am taking him to the Vet tomorrow to have him checked to make sure he hasn’t become diabetic. One of his litter mates was diabetic. They have to keep him for a bit to do the testing and if he is diabetic they will need to keep him even longer so they can get him stabilized before he comes back home. They didn’t tell me when I might be able to pick him up if he is not diabetic.
I am to have Tony at the Vet at 10:00. I will then go to the library book sale before my 11:30 haircut. I’m glad the library book sale is on for this year as my supply of books to read is getting very low. I think it is bag day tomorrow. I have a few groceries to stop and get and then I will come home.
Jim stayed home today so he could take me to Topeka to get my car. He will leave for Stillwater sometime tomorrow and stay for several days. I am trying to talk him into staying until next Tuesday or Wednesday but we will see what he decides to do.
I got some deck painting done last night. I haven’t made it out today to do any more. I may go out when it cools down a bit. It is a touch windy today and wasn’t sure I wanted to be on a ladder in the wind and heat. Usually the wind calms down later in the afternoon and I can get out and get a bit more painting done.
I took a nap this afternoon. Jim woke me up as the dealer had called telling us the car was ready. I had trouble sleeping again last night although I did manage to get a couple hours of sleep. That is better than the last couple of nights.
I’m fixing fish for dinner. Jim will get oven baked fish and I will grill myself a piece of salmon. Jim likes tater tots with his fish and I like sweet potato fries. Makes an easy meal to fix.
I have the wedding meals planned and a grocery list made. I may pick up a few things from the list tomorrow while I am at the grocery store. I need to go to Bobby D’s and confirm the catering order. Maybe I will have lunch there tomorrow and take care of that then. Less than two weeks from the big day – I am getting excited.
When I go to town tomorrow I need to drop off the Chex Mix I made for the kiddos. Tomorrow is Michelle’s birthday. I invited them out for dinner tomorrow night but haven’t heard yet if they are coming. Since it is a school night it can be more trouble than it is worth to come out.
Grateful Jim took me to Topeka today, grateful to have my car back, and grateful for the library book sale.
