Got a bunch more painting outside done today. Finished the main deck rails and went down one of the two staircases. Still have the landing and one more staircase to go but those aren’t ready to paint yet. I also need to paint the big pillars on the walk out patio. I may get to those tomorrow.
When I came in from painting my right hand wouldn’t work very well. It had been holding the paint cup for about three hours my hand and was locked in place. I have never had that happen before. I tried to use my right hand to open a can for lunch and it wouldn’t work. It has relaxed and is OK now.
I ate lunch at 3:45 when I came in from painting and just now had dinner at 7:15. I usually eat lunch at noon and dinner around 5:30. The time change has thrown me off schedule.
The plumber came out today and brought the new water booster pump. Wow! I have high water pressure immediately now. Wondering if the washer will complete a wash cycle faster now that it can draw water faster. Hoping the hot water will come to the faucet faster now. One more thing crossed off my to do list.
The door guy is to come tomorrow to replace the screen on the south door. He had to order the screen as it is special cat proof screen. It has been in for two weeks. I called last week and they were to have come out last week to install it. I called again today and they promised they would be here tomorrow. Not thinking I want to hold my breath though.
Baked a double batch of cookies this morning. On the next to last batch I picked up a hot cookie sheet with my bare hand and burned my thumb. I put ice on it immediately and then cut a stem off the aloe Vera plant and cut the stem open and taped it to my thumb. I can see a small blister attempting to form but I think I diverted it from getting big and ugly. It is a bit tender to touch tonight. I hate when I do something stupid like that.
Still haven’t make it downstairs to make up the guest bed. I may get that done yet tonight. I’m not going to bother doing much cleaning as I don’t have guests schedule again until the end of April.
I had forgotten to order the new water hose for the dishwasher I ordered from Lowe’s. When I called today to add that to the order I found out they had planned to deliver it only and not install it. For $150 extra I can have them install it. I cancelled my order! Went on line to Best Buy and found a higher quality dishwasher that has free installation for the same price as the one from Lowe’s plus installation. Lowe’s website is misleading. I assumed if they were going to haul the old one away they would disconnect it and then take it away. But no, they expected it to be disconnected when they got here. Glad I discovered all this before they showed up.
Jim is coming tomorrow late afternoon. He teaches his last class in the morning and then will need to pack and load his car. He will be here ten days before we return to OK for several days and than are coming back to KS for two weeks. After that we will go to OK for several months if I can find someone to watch my house. The best part of having surgery is that means Jim and I will be together for an extended time again. I won’t be able to drive for six to eight weeks as it is my right foot being fixed this time. Grateful he will take me where I need to go.
I am both dreading and excited about having my bunion fixed Wednesday. Dreading the six to eight weeks of limited mobility but excited that once that part is over I will be able to walk pain free. I learned last time to mark days off the calendar and know that each day gets me one day closer to mobility. Can’t rush the healing so I have to allow it to be what it is. Trusting I will recover as fast as I did last time. Knowing there will be long hard days but most will be good days. Another lesson in patience for me for sure.
I have black railing paint all over my hands. I don’t want to clean them up with mineral spirits until I am done using the black paint. I’ll get them clean tomorrow after I paint the lower posts.
My skin has dried up like a prune with this cooler weather. I have been trying to drink more water to try to help hydrate myself but not sure I have been very successful. Time to slather on the cocoa butter lotion after my bath tonight.
Grateful the railing painting got done today, grateful for the new water booster pump, and grateful Jim will be here tomorrow afternoon.
