My ears are tired tonight. We went to a family reunion this today and I was around lots of people. I didn’t count but there must have been at least 50 people there and probably more. I haven’t been in a crowd that size for over a year. All the living grandchildren of my great-grandparents were there today which hasn’t happened for a long time. It was good to see that many family members. I knew all of that generation but when you get down to their kids and then their kids are having kids I get lost and don’t know them.
I cooked for about an hour this morning fixing a meat loaf, roasted veggies and deviled eggs to take. I had fixed a banana pudding last night. We had so much extra food after everyone ate it looked like we could have fed another 50 people. My Aunt Marylyn is having a knee replaced tomorrow. I got her some left over containers and sent food home with her so she will have some when she gets home from the hospital.
I took 10 dozen eggs with me and passed them out. I delivered 6 dozen on the way to the reunion. I cleared out my egg stash temporarily. Jim just gathered eggs and got 16 more. I had picked up 10 this morning. We don’t stay out of eggs long.
We came home and I took a long nap. Jim even laid down for a bit and slept. I had trouble falling asleep but finally got some sleep.
Tomorrow I have to be in Topeka by 12:45 so will need to be on the road by 11:15. My appointment will only take about 10 minutes. Jim is going along as there is a camera store going out of business and he wants to take a look at their sale.
Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow afternoon so we might not get any painting done. Not looking much better for Wednesday either. Rain, rain go away, come again another day.
If it rains tomorrow afternoon and or Wednesday I will start the house cleaning project. I have until 1:00 on Thursday to get the house clean for the guest that is coming in.
We need to get the chicken coop cleaned out one day this week if the rain gives us a chance to do so. We clean it out around the first of every month. This is not one of Jim’s favorite jobs but we both enjoy the clean coop when the deed is done.
Grateful for the family that was able to come today, grateful for the bounty of food, and grateful for the peace and quiet this evening.
