Happy birthday to my dad. He would have turned 95 today. So hard to picture him that old as he always acted young to me. He enjoyed life so much and found the beauty and joy in the little things around him. He is loved and missed by many.

I went into Emporia this morning and had a blood draw to have my cholesterol levels checked. I only had to wait about five minutes before they did the draw. They were able to get me on the first stick. I got the results this afternoon and was disappointed to find out my cholesterol levels are basically the same as they were before I started the injections. In fact they were a few points higher. The doctor is going to have to talk really hard to get me to continue taking them. I don’t think they are doing any good. I looked at the drug’s website and it said it would reduce my cholesterol by 63% within three months. I have taken the injections for five months so far and all that I have gained is lots of Charlie Horse leg cramps and sinus issues. I have an appointment with my doctor on Thursday and we will see what he has to say.

Jim and I cleaned out the chicken coop today and gave the girls some fresh linens. We only had two wheelbarrow fulls of the old straw to dump. The girls always have fun rearranging the straw when we are done. Every time I clean out the coop I feel compelled to change the sheets on my bed. If the girls get fresh linens, I want some too! Now all the beds in the house have fresh linens.

The best thing that happened today was my friends I met on the Camino FaceTime with me today. It is always good to see their beautiful faces and catch up on what is happening with them. I was relieved to hear they have escaped the virus and are doing well. Their part of CA is extremely dry and the fire danger is already high. They are starting to get out and about a bit and seeing their large, immediate family.

I stopped by the rental house when I was in town delivering eggs today. The floor in the laundry room was almost done and looks so nice. I wish the budget had been able to stretch enough that I could have done the kitchen floor too. I am over budget at this point and had to cut out some wish list items. We didn’t make it in to paint today. I think both of us needed a day off to rest and recover. Hopefully I will get in tomorrow and get some painting done. I am free in the morning so may go in while Jim sleeps in and do it then.

I fixed split pea soup with ham for dinner tonight. Not one of my favorite meals but Jim enjoys it. My tummy has been a bit off today and I haven’t felt like eating much. Trusting it will be back to normal tomorrow.

I made more deviled eggs today. I needed to drop something off to Tim so I took some deviled eggs to them as they all like them too. They also got two dozen eggs. I got rid of eight dozen eggs today and still have nine more dozen in the refrigerator tonight. Anyone need eggs?

I got the electrician bill today – it was about what I expected. They did some work that wasn’t in the original bid. Hoping that is my last big bill to pay besides the carpet that is coming later this month. I will have another big bill from the handyman for his labor and parts. After that I hope I will just have paint to buy to finish the inside. I still have to get paint for the outside and then whatever materials we will need to fix the outside. Yikes! I didn’t guesstimate very good as I am over budget. Par for the course probably for a remodel – it is hard to know what one is getting sometimes. My budget got blown by the roof replacement that was higher than I expected as they found the house had three layers of shingles on it and all needed to be taken off and new sub put on. Hard to make up for that extra expense.

Jim is going to Stillwater on Wednesday so he can put in some time working on his house there. I think he is staying until Saturday but his plans may change. While he is gone I can put in some extra painting time at the house in Cottonwood Falls.

Nothing on my calendar for the next two days except painting. It will be good to have some empty space at last. If fills like it has been a bit since I have had some. I need to slow things down and regroup.

Grateful for the FaceTime call today with my Camino friends, grateful for the wonderful memories I have of my dad, and grateful for fresh linens for all on the prairie today.
