Another non-productive day after another night of little sleep. I have got to figure out what is causing me to not be able to sleep. It is causing me to not be able to do the things I want to do. I stayed home this afternoon and took a nap – even during my nap time I wasn’t able to sleep very well.

I delivered four dozen eggs today. I have four more dozen in the refrigerator for a friend that will stop and pick them up. I’m glad eggs are going out a bit faster this week. They sure pile up quickly. The girls gave me over two dozen eggs today.

I attempted to hook up my old router to the internet today. It worked easy as could be. The printer even printed immediately. Then I walked away for five minutes. When I came back and attempted to print it didn’t do so. The network that I connected to was not on the list to choose from. WTF! I don’t understand why it worked and then the network I used disappeared. These things drive me to drink. I reconnected the router that is going bad and the network reappeared. I give up. I will wait until I can find a tech person to come out and help me or I might end up smashing something in frustration.

I got the bid from the electric company. They charged me a hefty fee just to do the bid and inspection. Their bid was actually a bit less than I had guessed it might be. I wrote them a check to pay the inspection fee and included a note to schedule the work. Their bid didn’t have an acceptance page to it. I will mail it to them tomorrow and hopefully will hear back from them soon as to when they can come do the work. There were two items they didn’t bid out as they weren’t sure what all would be involved in doing the work. I may hit my guess of what I expected it to cost when I add in the inspection cost and the remaining two items on their list.

We got our federal income tax refund today. I tucked it into my saving account as I will use all of it to pay to the state for what I owe them plus the estimates I have to pay. I will have to add to it to cover all the estimated tax payments I owe. Easy come – easy go.

I checked the IRS website to see where my stimulus check is and they tell me they don’t have enough information to tell me. This happened last year too. Not sure why I don’t show up in their data base. Last year they had to mail me my check but since we filed our 2020 taxes and they have my banking number now I am hoping they will direct deposit it. Not sure if Jim will get his separate from mine or if they will come together.

There was something in the Recovery Act that my accountant discovered that he now needs to file an amended tax return for us which will net more federal tax refund. That won’t cover the rest of the KS estimated tax but with the stimulus money added in it will. Money comes in and it goes right back out again. I’m grateful that I will have enough to cover the state tax bill without having to dig into savings.

My dental hygienist called today to let me know she had an opening for tomorrow afternoon and asked if I could come in then. I agreed to do so only to get this appointment over and done with. She is not on my list of favorite people. I really dread going but I need to get it done. For some reason she called Jim’s phone instead of mine today. She sure seems to not have her act together very well.

Since I have to go to town tomorrow I will go in early and pick out the paint for the walls for the rest of the house and the woodwork paint. Some of the painting will have to wait until the electrician gets done but I can get part of it done now.

Dinner is going to be the corn beef and cabbage dinners I picked up yesterday from the Catholic fund raising dinner. That will be easy. Tomorrow night we are having left over pot roast so that will be easy too.

It reached 59 today. The clouds and light shadows were beautiful this afternoon. There were tornado warnings in counties around us but we didn’t have any severe weather. We are to get more rain tomorrow night and into Wednesday. I have appreciated all the rain we have gotten so far and welcome even more to come. It has greatly reduced the fire warnings that we had been under.

Grateful for what sleep I did get, grateful the funds to cover the state tax owed will be forthcoming, and grateful for the beautiful clouds and light shadows today.
