Went to tax school today. It was a long six hour class. We did get a one hour lunch break.
I have trouble understanding why the first problem we would work in class is one the instructor said we would never see doing taxes. Why wouldn’t we start with a return that 90% of the returns we do would be like?
When class was over I chatted with one of the first time ladies. She wasn’t going to come back tomorrow as she was so frustrated. I visited with her for about 15 minutes and talked her down. It will be interesting to see if she shows up tomorrow or not.
The test we have to take is so ridiculous. It deals with cases we just won’t see. I guess it is fun for those that have done lots of taxes for lots of years but for the newbies it is overwhelming.
Two more days of class! I think I can! I think I can!
The fun part was getting to know some of the people in the class. The guy I sat next to was fun. We helped each other with the problem we were assigned to do. He only does taxes once a week for a couple of hours so hadn’t done lots last year.
Several of the people in the class know Jim and came up to me to introduce themselves to me and tell me why they know Jim. That was fun to meet them.
The weather did not behave as forecast for the day. It barely reached 50 today and has been spitting some moisture. Had a minute or two of light hail this afternoon. The forecast is still showing tomorrow will reach the low 60’s but not sure I believe it.
We put the old cat in the big dog crate last night. She has forgotten how to use the litter box and Jim was getting tired of cleaning up after her. The crate is big enough to hold a litter box, her food and water and a lamp for her to sleep under on a big blanket. It was nice to go in the kitchen this morning and not be afraid of stepping in cat pee. She didn’t seem to protest being in the crate.
Going to try to use the air fryer for dinner tonight. I haven’t tried using one yet. I’ll see if I like it. I looked up some recipes and am surprised at the time it takes to make things in it. Trusting the taste will be so good the extra time is worth it.
I have tax school again tomorrow all day. I have some homework to do tonight but needed to clear my head before I attempted it. Not sure the teacher today taught me what I needed to know to do them although he felt he did. I learn best by doing, not by listening.
Jim is outside working in his shop. I need to get dinner started soon.
Grateful day one of three tax school days are done, grateful for the fun people I met today at tax school, and grateful Katy seems content in her new small home.
