What a day. Not sure much of it went as planned but all is well at the end of the day.
Jim left for Stillwater around 9:30 this morning. He went down to get another load of books and photography files and cabinets. I messed around the house this morning and did chores and a few other things and then headed to Cottonwood a little after 11:00 to deliver eggs. When I finished that I drove to Wichita to go to Costco.
The main thing I needed from Costco was Chicken Tenderloins and they didn’t have any. I managed to get a cart full of other stuff. Costco was out of powdered sugar too. Walmart was out when I was there last. Is there a powdered sugar shortage these days?
I was almost home when Jim called. He had run into car trouble and needed me to bring him a key to his other car that was in Stillwater. I came home, unloaded the car, did afternoon chores and then I drove to Stillwater.
He got his car towed to a repair shop. They are going to fix it and then drive the car to his house in Stillwater. He will go down sometime next week and get it and bring another load.
I was only in Stillwater about an hour and we headed back to the prairie. Jim put two file cabinets in the back of my car and boxes of stuff in his car. Jim drove his other car and I drove my car back. Made for a lot of driving today – I spent over nine hours driving. I am tired tonight. We got home at 10:00 tonight. Thankfully I had picked up some roasted chicken at Costco so I heated some of that up and fixed a veggie and called it dinner.
Jim took 11 dozen eggs with him to pass out to friends in Stillwater. I delivered 3 dozen eggs in Cottonwood this morning. When I left the house this morning I had zero eggs in the kitchen. I already have 8 and will gather two dozen tomorrow. It was good to get the stash cleaned out.
I got on the hot line late last night and handled seven calls. They were the normal run of mill calls. I didn’t have to get the supervisor involved in any of them. Had several suicidal texters but they all seemed to calm down after they vented. Sometimes all people need is a listening ear with no judgement. I think I am too tired to get on the hot line tonight.
The Health Department called and changed the time of our vaccine from 5:05 to 9:15 on Thursday. That means we will have to get up early and get to town. It will be good to get that out of the way.
Either tomorrow or Wednesday I need to go to town to get chicken feed and a few groceries. I want to make sure everyone around here has what they need in case we have side effects from the second vaccine and don’t want to get out.
It is to be really nice again tomorrow and we plan to clean out the chicken coop and give the girls some fresh linens. It is always good to get that job done. They sure like being outside when days are as nice as it was today. We reached the mid to upper 60’s today. A week ago it was -17. Gotta love KS and the ever changing weather. It is to get a bit colder after tomorrow but nothing like last week.
I am tired tonight. I got two sleeps last night but one was for three hours and the other was only for one hour. Trusting I will sleep good tonight. We don’t have to get up early tomorrow so maybe I can sleep in and catch up a bit. Didn’t have time for a nap today.
Grateful for safe driving conditions today, grateful the egg stash got cleared out, and grateful for the beautiful weather we had today.
