I better get my blog written early today as the power company let us know that we will be experiencing some rolling black outs over the next 24 – 48 hours. The power companies cannot keep up with the demand. I got the propane fireplace pilot light lit and have it running so we will stay warm if the power goes out. Trusting the water pipes won’t freeze. At the request of the power company we turned the thermostat down to 67 today. I usually keep the house at 71. Doing our best to help out the power company.
I didn’t sleep much at all last night so took a nap early afternoon. I had something on my mind that I couldn’t let go of last night. It is still bothering me and I can’t seem to find a solution. Doing my best to move my body and get out of my own way today but so far no luck. It will work itself out sooner or later.
We are going to have left overs tonight – hopefully when it is time to eat dinner the power will be on and we can eat warm leftovers instead of cold. We will see what happens.
I gathered eggs this morning and gave the girls another pan of sprouted wheat berries. They jumped on the pan of greens this morning. I think they approve. I got 20 eggs when I gathered them and Jim brought 3 more up this afternoon. Three of the eggs were frozen and cracked. I am thawing them and will give them to the dogs later.
The pharmacy I get my cholesterol injections from called me today. The new prescription insurance covers a different brand so the pharmacy is requesting a script from my doctor. I am to call them back if I don’t have the new injections within three weeks. I trust the new brand will not cause the welts I get at the injection site. I can still tell where I have given myself the first two and now the third one is a welt bigger than a quarter in size. They itch badly at times.
I delivered eggs in Cottonwood this morning. There was a snow drift at the head of my driveway that was over knee high. My Forester went right through it – no problem. I am grateful I have a different car as my Prius would not have made it through. The highway was clear although the north south highway between Strong City and Cottonwood Falls was snow packed. The side roads were slick but I managed not to slide off the road. It was good to get back home safely. There was little traffic on the highway or in town today. Smart people stayed home today.
The owner of the house I am buying let me know the water is frozen at that property. He said he would do repairs if needed once this cold snap lets up. I take ownership February 26 so hoping he will get water running by then. We shall see.
I am cranky today. I don’t like when I can’t figure something out. I know what the problem is but I can’t seem to come up with a solution that feels right. Lack of sleep last night isn’t helping. Pushing through won’t work for me. I have to sit it down, walk away and come back clear headed. Sometimes that is easier said than done though.
Grateful for a warm house today, grateful for a safe trip to town to deliver eggs, and grateful for my Forester and how it drives on snow packed roads.
