I keep typing July instead of August. I have got to get with it!

Went to the Doctor for my annual physical today. Not sure it was a physical but it is what it is. He did listen to my heart and lungs so I guess you can say he touched me. Sure didn’t look for anything I didn’t complain about.

My blood work all came back good. My TSH is 1.6 which is getting a bit low but still considered normal. My cholesterol was only 290 which is really good for me. It has been as high as 475 before. I can’t/won’t take statins so not a lot they can do for it.

I’m glad I got my physical out of the way and that all the blood work came back in the normal range for me. I do have to have a mammogram, stool test, and bone density test in the next couple of weeks. They are to call and get those scheduled. Maybe I can get them all done before my European trip in September.

Tagen helped me clean out the chicken coop today and give the girls some fresh linens. Always good to get that job done. We took advantage of a day when the temperature was in the low 80’s instead of the 100’s to get that little project done. Next time Tagen can do it by himself.

We got 16 eggs today. I am thinking there will be a few more later as we disturbed some of the girls that were in the nesting boxes. Hope they don’t lay their eggs outside. It is always fun to watch the girls reorganize the straw when we are done. They love to play in it and get it where they want it.

Not much else on my agenda to do today. Tagen is going to town for dinner so it will just be Michelle and I to cook for tonight. Sometimes she doesn’t eat dinner so I may get a night off. I am taking care of three loads of laundry today so will get those folded and put away sooner or later.

Tomorrow Cody is coming for the day. I’ll have to set my alarm and get up so I am ready for him when he gets here in the morning. I have been staying up late and sleeping in some. I won’t be able to do that the next three days since Cody is coming to play.

I do need to get started cleaning. I want to do a deep clean in each room and get ready for the family reunion that I am hosting August 19. It will be here before I know it.

I may need to make a Costco run before the reunion. I will need tableware, cups, etc. for the dinner as well as a few food items that I want to fix. I have some friends in KC I would love to see so may take a day trip one day next week.

Got notified that the steer the local rancher took to the butcher weighed over 1,200 pounds. That is huge! It is about 100 pounds heavier than the one last year. My rancher is charging me $2.00 a pound which is less than the market price of $2.25. Beef prices are high this year due to the drought. Many ranchers had to cut back on the number of cattle they could raise due to low pond levels which is creating a shortage of beef on the hoof. I haven’t priced beef in the grocery store for a long time but it must be high right now. Looking forward to having a freezer full of beef sometime the end of August.

My local rancher let me know that she will have steers for sale next summer if anyone is looking for some great beef at a bargain price. Let me know and I can hook you up with her.

I went out last night to clean my A/C unit as suggested by my son. I discovered the wind we had Saturday night had moved the unit off the concrete pad it sits on. It is barely touching the pad it belongs on. The repair guy has been called and will be out tomorrow to set it back where it belongs. Hoping none of the connecting pipes were punctured or broken. I will have to ask the repair guy if I need to have a fence built around it. This is the second time this has happened.

It always seem to be something happening around here. My budget for repairs for this year is blown as it seems like I have had more than normal breaking down this year. Maybe this will be the last of it for the year.

Sitting in a good head space today. It finally feels like I have been able to ground and be present again. Not sure what shifted to allow that but I am grateful for it. Feeling a bit more motivated to do things today then I have felt for a while.

Grateful the blood work didn’t reveal any issues, grateful the chicken coop is clean, and grateful for repair guys that can reset the A/C unit.
