Got up early on the correct day this time. I took the dogs for their morning walk. We ran into two dogs unleashed this morning. Both encounters turned out OK but I get scared each time it happens. Sure wish people would follow the leash laws in Cottonwood Falls. I can’t tell if a dog is friendly or is going to cause a fight.

My realtor came by as promised. I signed a bunch of papers. We are going forward as if the close is going to happen Friday. The buyer is still waiting on one more bid before she will commit to accepting my counter offer. My realtor thinks we are good to go. We shall see.

A little before noon I headed to Olpe. I got stuck in construction traffic at the bridge leaving Cottonwood Falls. Since I had nothing better to do while I was waiting to go, I looked at my phone and checked the voice mail from the Meat Locker. I realized the meat locker closes for lunch from 12:00 to 1:00. Decided to go on to Emporia and have lunch and then go to Olpe.

I got stuck in construction traffic on Highway 50 for about 20 minutes. Finally got to Emporia and stopped for lunch. I was able to kill enough time between the two construction zones and lunch that by the time I got to Olpe they were back open.

I loaded up 1/4 of the beef and came home. This time there were no construction zones so got home in good time. Kathy helped me carry my 1/8 of the beef in the house. She took the other 1/8 to a friend’s house for me. Good to have the freezer restocked.

For some reason I am really tired this afternoon. I am going to try to stay awake as I have to leave for KC early in the morning and don’t want to stay up late tonight. I shall see if I can stay awake until an early bedtime.

It is over 100 again today. Yikes! Enough with this hot weather. I don’t do well in the heat.

I need to find six boxes for tomorrow to put the beef in. I used 3 clothes baskets today and 1/4 of the beef fit in those three baskets. Tomorrow I am picking up 3/4 of a beef so will need lots more places to hold beef in. I think I have some empty boxes in the shed out back. When it cools down a bit, I will go look and see. May have to get creative if I don’t have any. They put the beef in heavy plastic sacks so I guess I could get by with just that if needed.

Tomorrow morning I have to leave by 8:00. I will stop by Olpe and get the beef and then go to Nicole’s house to drop it off. I have to be at my KU appointment at 12:15. The testing may take up to three hours. I can’t remember last time if it took that long or not. I may stop at Costco afterwards if I am not too exhausted.

Other than exercise I don’t have any other plans for the week. I still haven’t gotten started on making aprons so maybe I can get that project started. I need to do some housecleaning one of these days. The dust is getting mighty thick again.

I’m still struggling a bit to let go of the anger I have towards the company that I had hired to manage my rental property. Many of the things the inspections found were things the management company should have noticed and had taken care of. They were going to rent the house to new renters once the garage doors got replaced. They never mentioned the other things that needed done.

Once this house sells, I still have one other rental property in this management companies care. I need to find another management company to take care of that last house. I’m not ready to sell that one yet as I have a potential buyer in mind but they won’t be ready to buy for another year.

I still get surprised when people don’t act and behave the way I would. One of these days I need to remember not to trust people so much. The person that I have dealt with from this management company has not proven herself to be trustworthy and I didn’t push it. Shame on me. Hopefully my lesson has been learned and I will remember this lesson and carry it with me in the future.

Grateful for fresh beef in my freezer, grateful the close is still scheduled as planned, and grateful for learning another hard life lesson.
