The roofers have been hard at it all day. Grateful it isn’t as hot as it was last week for them. We reached the mid 80’s today which is plenty hot when you are on the roof. Better than over 100 I guess.

The Pella guy had told me he was coming at 10:00 this morning. At 10:15 I called the company to find out where he was at. They had me on his schedule for 4:00 today.

He shows up at 2:05. Grateful he came but the guy really needs to work on his time management and communication. He dodged nails and droppings from the roofers and measured all the doors and windows. He sat down at the table and showed me his bid when he was done inputting everything. I almost fell over – it is over $100,000. That is just for the west and north side windows and not even the lower west side windows and doors. Ouch!

My internet is down as the roofers had to take down the internet thingy off the roof. The Pella guy couldn’t transmit the bid without better internet so he is to send it to me once he gets back to the office today. Do I trust that he will do that? Not sure!

When I do get the bid I will forward it to my insurance adjuster. I still haven’t received written confirmation on which of the doors and windows the insurance adjuster is willing to pay to replace. He can take the Pella bid and take out what he didn’t approve. Hopefully he can get a check cut this week.

I’m thinking the roofers will be back tomorrow. They made a lot of progress today and are putting shingles on but they are running out of day. They still have to do the chicken coop. That might be a challenge for them as I have netting over the top of the chicken yard attached to the coop. Not sure how they get through that to get to the roof but they can figure that out.

I only got 15 eggs today. I’m thinking the noise from the roofers spooked the chickens today. It kinda spooked me. Tank, Michelle’s dog and Louis, Kathy’s cat were both spooked all day too.

Not sure if I need to call the internet people to come out and make sure the thingy on the roof is installed correctly when the roofers are done. Guess we will find out tomorrow when the roofers are done.

I tried calling the Efis guy but his mailbox is full and he can’t accept any messages. Hope that isn’t a sign that he has blown me off. I will keep trying him. He has always answered me before.

Tagen stayed home from school today. He has a swollen throat, headache and is congested. No fever today but he has been very tired and rested all day. Hope he gets better soon. I’m concerned about his tonsils as he has had trouble with them before.

No plans for tomorrow or Wednesday. I may go to town tomorrow just to get away from the roofing noise for a bit. It tried my patience today at times. I was doing OK until the internet went down and I couldn’t play my music or watch TV.

I got a bit cranky when the Pella guy didn’t show up this morning. I would have canceled him out if I hadn’t needed a bid from Pella. I don’t like people telling me one thing and then doing something else. It feels disrespectful. He did apologize when he got here for not coming last week. I was grateful he was able to give me a bid right away – that is if he gets it emailed to me promptly.

Now if I can get the Efis guy to do his thing this hail project will get moving along. One big part of it got done today and maybe tomorrow I can nail down the Efis guy. I’m getting anxious to get this done before I leave next week.

Grateful the Pella guy finally showed up, grateful I have replacement cost insurance, and grateful the roofers are doing their thing.
