I had a busy morning. I went to Emporia at 9:30 to deliver some peaches to Jason and his family, dropped off some packaging material to Tim, filled the car with gas, and stopped by Walgreens and Walmart. Then I went to Olpe to pick up our beef.

The Meat Locker is in new hands this year. They were to have processed it the same as last year but not sure they did. I will be anxious to taste it. I got lots of T-Bone steaks this year – last year they cut them into KC Stripes and Tenderloins. I asked them to cut the roasts smaller this year but not sure they did. I didn’t get any stew meat this year and I did last year. Hopefully the taste will be as good as last year.

Came home and sorted the meat and then counted it. I have two different people each taking a quarter of it so needed to know how to divide it up. A friend came over and picked up her quarter. We traded peaches for some home grown tomatoes. Yummy!

After they picked up their beef I delivered eggs to my regular customers. I gave them both some peaches as a bonus today. I have managed to give away or eat most of the box that I got. I will take the remaining few with me to KC tomorrow.

I drove by the rental house to check out the foundation repair. It looks nice. We only have the burn pile clean up to do and then I don’t plan on doing anything else to the house this year unless an emergency repair needs done. The property sure looks different than it did when I purchased it earlier this year.

Got a response back from the CEO of the Y Camp. I am angry right now at the situation. He did not read my response and continues to blame my bank for the hold. He did not accept any responsibility for the actions of his staff. I can handle it when someone screws up if they admit it and apologize but when they blame someone else and fail to step up to the plate I get angry. I am working on letting go of this situation as my anger won’t change anything. It will be hard for me to go back next year with the way things are now. The Y Camp is very important to Jim so I need to let this go. I will work on that.

It is very hot on the prairie today. It is in the mid to upper 90’s. I need to go down and give the chickens a watermelon when I get done writing. It helps them hydrate. Their egg production has dropped due to the heat. Hoping they will pick back up again when it cools down in another couple of weeks. They will be molting soon and will quit laying for a couple of months.

I still need to pack for my trip to KC tomorrow. I have a list so it won’t take long once I start pulling things out. I did laundry earlier so everything is available and clean to pack.

I took a short nap this afternoon. I slept hard for about three hours last night but struggled to get a second sleep. I only slept about 30 minutes this afternoon so hoping tonight I will sleep more. It is frustrating when I am tired but can’t find sleep.

Got a response back about our master bathroom shower. The company I ordered it from is running way behind. The shower material is in but it will be at least another month before they can install it. I told them about the wedding September 25 and that I didn’t want construction happening then. I asked them to either have it done before that date or wait until afterwards to start it. I bet they wait till afterwards but guess it is what it is.

Someone claiming to be from my insurance company called me today. She said a nurse wanted to talk to me but I needed to give her my birthdate and social security number. I have no idea if she was from the insurance company and refused to give it to her. They called me so they already have that information. It may have been legit but I don’t give out that information unless I call them and they need to confirm who I am. When they call me, I don’t play that game.

Feeling a bit ungrounded this afternoon and a bit cranky. Part of it is due to poor sleep lately and part of it is due to the heat. I don’t do well when it is this hot out. Maybe it will do me good to go to KC for a couple of days. I don’t seem to have much motivation to do anything right now. Hoping when I come home later this week I will be more grounded and ready to get some projects done.

Grateful for a freezer full of beef, grateful for fresh peaches, and grateful for fresh tomatoes.
