Got up and walked the dogs one by one for their morning potty walk. Took Sophia downtown and stopped at the gas station to ask for a recommendation of someone that could fix my lawn mower. BJ offered to come by the house and check it out for me later today. That was easy!
I called the contractor that might be able to fix the foundation at Michelle’s house. He isn’t sure when he will be able to go look at it but said he will put it on his list. I’ll have to remember to get back in touch with him after a few weeks to remind him if necessary.
My license plate came in for my new car today. I couldn’t find my Philips screwdriver to help me attach it to the car. I have a power drill and bit set so Kathy helped me figure that out and we got the new plate attached. Grateful for Kathy’s help and proud we were able to get that job done.
I also called and made my annual appointment with my eye doctor who is a retina specialist in Topeka. For some reason his office can’t book out ahead longer than four months so I have to remember to call every year to get my annual appointment. I will go to see him in November.
I went to town for my 2:00 exercise lesson. Did my 50 minutes and then went downtown. I stopped at the Chiropractor for my weekly adjustment. Went to the library to drop off eight boxes of books for the Friends of the Library. I went in the library as the friend’s building was closed. I asked for a cart so I could easily get all the boxes inside. There wasn’t a cart available so they had me drive around to their back door.
When I got to the back door someone came out and said they didn’t have a free cart so they were going to meet me at the Friends building. I drove there and someone came and helped me carry in the boxes.
Then I went to Bluestem to get grass seed and a Phillips screwdriver. I couldn’t find the screwdrivers so I asked for help. The young man that helped me talked over my head when I told him I needed a Philips screwdriver. He was telling me all the differences of all the different screwdrivers they had and I had no idea what he was saying. I don’t talk screwdriver. I found a set that seemed OK. Then I asked him for a star screwdriver. I didn’t want one that you had to put a head in the screwdriver as I tend to lose the parts. Turns out there are two or more different size star heads. Who knew? Dang, that wasn’t easy.
Went to Walmart and got some things for a lunch I am fixing later this week. Came home afterwards.
Stopped by the gas station to pay for the lawnmower repair. Found out that the problem was water had gotten in the gas can I used to fill the mower. When BJ came to fix the mower he couldn’t get it started here so he took it to the shop. He also took my gas can with him. He dumped out the gas can and was letting it dry before he put gas back in it. He told me so far I only owed $0.58 unless I wanted him to fill up the gas can. He didn’t charge me for his labor. I will go back Wednesday and pick up the gas can and will make sure I have some cash on me so I can tip him good. What a delightful thing it is to have Dieker’s in town and provide such good service.
When I got home Kathy had already finished mowing the yard. That was easy – at least for me!
So far it is clear out today so will go to the Prairie Preserve later today to watch the super moon rise this evening. It isn’t so hot out today so it will be a good evening to be outside.
Tomorrow I am going to KC for lunch with some friends and then going to my attorney’s office to sign some papers. That will be a long day but a fun day as I will get to spend time with two dear friends. I need to remember to stop by Michelle’s house when I come back through Emporia to make sure Tagen’s room is ready for new flooring on Wednesday.
Wednesday is my birthday and Kathy has invited some of our friends to come over for a little get together. That will be fun. Thursday I am helping some dear friends move. Friday I have to go back to Emporia for exercise. This week has gotten busy for me.
It has felt like a productive day getting lots of little things taken care of. Who knew figuring out which Philips screwdriver to buy would be the challenge of the day! Oh sometimes, it is the little things that trip me up.
Grateful for the wonderful service BJ provided fixing my lawn mower, grateful Kathy knows how to use a power drill, and grateful I was able to make some phone calls today.
