We had a brief, intense storm come over last night around 6:00. We had lots of hail in a shape I had never seen before. It was the size of my palm and looked like someone had cut up big chunks of ice. It was not round balls. I made everyone go downstairs as it sounded like it was going to break a window.

We watched the ice chunks fall from the sky and bounce all over the yard. It came with strong winds and rain. It lasted for at least five minutes and maybe ten.

When it was over we went outside to see what the damage was. It broke one of the lower windows in the living room. I have double pane windows so no water came in the house but there was glass all over the deck below the window.

The west side of the house took a beating. It looks like marbling effect in places. Not sure how we get that repaired as I can’t find a repairman that deals with efis.

Not sure if the roof was damaged or not. I called the insurance company and put in a claim. They are sending an adjuster to come out and check it out.

The A/C unit was blown off the pad again.

Michelle’s car was damaged. The windshield was cracked and in some places on her car it looked like someone took a ball bat to it. She filed an insurance claim too.

We lost power when the storm started and it was out for over three hours. We were all grateful when it came back on.

I have been busy all day with phone calls. The glass guy came out this morning and measured and will get the replacement piece ordered.

The A/C guy came and checked out the unit. No damage this time. He bolted the unit to the pad. Not sure why he didn’t do that last week but at least he did this week.

I haven’t heard when the insurance adjuster is coming yet. I also called some different A/C people to replace a damper that is frozen shut. Not sure when he is coming to check that out.

I got a text from my handyman who lives next door to my rental in Cottonwood Falls. A big tree limb is down at the rental property. He is going to take care of that for me.

Dang! I hate things like this. I don’t know enough about these types of things and I really dislike dealing with repair people. I am grateful I have some I trust and can take their word for what they think needs to be done. I would much rather spend my money on trips and experiences rather than fixing things.

I woke up at 3:30 this morning and could not go back to sleep. I have tried to take a nap three times today and keep getting woke up with phone calls, repair people showing up, etc.

I had to go to town around noon. Tagen was getting his supplies for his welding class and his scholarship didn’t cover all of it and it needed to be paid for today. I went to town and helped the kid out.

Tagen had class this morning and stayed in town as he has football practice this afternoon and then a parent-teacher meeting tonight at the Vo-Tech. Ellexia went to a friend’s house last night for an overnight and hasn’t let me know she is ready to come home yet. Michelle is staying in town when she gets off work to go to Tagen’s parent-teacher meeting.

It has been a quiet day without anyone extra around except for the two repairmen that came.

It almost feels like fall outside today. It was in the low 60’s this morning and will only reach the mid 70’s today. It is supposed to heat up later this week so will enjoy these cooler temperatures while they last.

I need to go down and do chicken chores today as Tagen won’t be home until 9:00 or so tonight. He had a long day.

I was really grumpy earlier. I think it was the stress from the storm and that I am so tired. I did manage to get a 20 minute nap before the A/C guy showed up and that seemed to have taken the edge off.

Still need to get started cleaning. I had to make all those phone calls this morning and that was more important than the cleaning. I hate making phone calls so that started my day off rough too. I was glad I was able to get them all made and get things moving. I have lots of hurry up and wait times ahead of me though until all can get repaired. Not my strong suit by any means.

My neighbors to the west got some hail damage, a mile north they had pea size hail and no damage. It was a tiny little system that seemed to have found my place and dumped it all here. Lucky me!

Grateful no one was injured during the storm last night, grateful the damage wasn’t worse than it was, and grateful two repair people have already showed up.
